WASHINGTON, DC U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today once again introduced his immigration legislation aimed at addressing the ever-increasing influx of illegal immigrants to the United States and its strain on society. Inhofes ENFORCE - Engaging the Nation to Fight for Our Right to Control Entry -Act (S.1269) increases U.S. border security, emphasizes greater enforcement of existing immigration laws and prevents amnesty and other shortcuts for illegal immigrants.
Illegal immigrants continue to cross our countrys borders, strain our economy and exploit our resources, Inhofe said. The gravity of this situation warrants that Americans of all political stripes come together to address this problem immediately. I will not stand idly by and watch our great nation collapse under the pressures of uncontrolled illegal immigration; this is a crisis and one that must be addressed aggressively.
Simply granting citizenship to immigrants, who are currently in our country illegally, is not the answer. We must enhance our border security, hold those accountable who encourage illegal immigration and ensure that those who violate our laws by entering our country illegally do not have this illegal activity easily forgiven and even rewarded with permanent residence or citizenship. Our nations future rests on Congress actions of today, and the ENFORCE Act is a strong step in the right direction to help solve our growing problem of illegal immigration.
Major Provisions in Inhofes ENFORCE Act:
· Establishes the National Border Neighborhood Watch (NBNW) Program allowing retired law enforcement officers to assist Border Patrol agents by reporting illegal border crossings.
· Makes unlawful-presence in the United States a felony.
· Establishes an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
· Authorizes funding for online immigration training for state and local law enforcement officers.
· Eliminates the practice of granting automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrants in an effort to reduce anchor babies.
· Establishes an independent verification system for Social Security numbers; also mandates that immigrants Social Security numbers expire when visa runs out.
· Establishes electronic birth & death registries to fight fraudulent Social Security cards
· Helps reduce Individual Taxpayer Identification Number abuse.
· Empowers state & local law enforcement to carryout immigration laws (but does not make it mandatory).
· Establishes penalties for most flagrant employer tax violationsi.e. if an employer willfully files incorrect tax returns, they will be assessed the maximum penalties available.
· Makes it illegal to operate day laborer centers for illegal aliens and to give them unemployment assistance.
· Eliminates in-state tuition benefits for illegal aliens.
Like I told someone else — better to add then try to figure out what is in a 1,000 page bill! I am big proponent of getting the laws enforced NOW!
I am still in shock at a 1,000 page bill that is supposed to take care of everything. How in the world could anyone even come close to understanding it all. Sen Inhofe’s first reaction to the 1,000 pages was pretty much garbage IMO!
Really missed a lot of you and so happy that I was given the push — knew right where I was heading and sent Jim an email immediately and I came back! I had been thinking about it and so happy when I woke up this morning and realized I was really back.
That’s why we need to bombard the GOP Senators and tell them Inhofe’s bill needs heard not the 1,000 page travesty they want us to like!
Sen Inhofe never backs down. Think that Hunter and Inhofe meeting up on this bill would be great!
Thank you much! I figure we need to try to get this bill out in front for the Senators who don’t seem to have a clue that we don’t want a 1,000 page bill— we want the laws enforced and a simple bill so we know what is in the bill!
I have been saying that ever since I heard about the 1,000 page bill — enforce the laws on the books and get back to me when that happens. At least this bill gives the Senators that said give me a bill, a bill right in their faces! :)

I actually went on his website looking for a phone number I had misplaced when this was on the home page. Couldn’t believe it so I wanted to post it and see if others knew anything about it. The media sure did bury it IMHO.

It addresses exactly the problems the senate says do not exist and expresses that there is no available answer to the unsolvable problems except controlling the borders. (ALL borders)

The pertinent part of the Constitution is that pesky Section 1 of the 14th Amendment: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
A lot of ink has been spilled about the word "jurisdiction"; however, among Constitutional scholars there are now some wispy but hopeful signs that "subject to the jurisdiction" does NOT mean "within the borders of the U.S., no matter how they got there."
Maybe we should build a bunch of these.
Deport the workers and their families will follow.

Until you renounce your support of Rudy, you are a rank hypocrite to even come back here and criticize sanctuary cities and amnesty.
I must say that I though MadmanIvan's WAckos would have lasted a bit longer before things started collapsing.
You have more than a conflict of interest. You have a conflict of principles, which is far more problematic. You decry Tulsa's sanctuary city policies, yet Rudy was probably the most militant supporter of such policies. So how the hell can you support him? Unless, of course, your values are opportunistic. In which case, your conservatism isn't.
