Love Dave Berry, when I can find him.
Unfortunately, when government agencies decide to ''improve'' a habitat, things do not always go as planned,
Would that more would realize that this applies not only to "habitat," but to almost every aspect of our lives.

The 12 scariest words on the planet: "Don't worry, I'm from the government and I'm here to fix it."
Unfortunately, when government agencies decide to ''improve'' a habitat, things do not always go as planned
ha! talk about an understatement.

That should read shooting “carp” not “carps”. The dumbing down of language is out of control.

The atuhor of the article overlooked one of the most famous incidents of a fish (well, ok, it was a large marine mammal) almost killing people on land.
Who could forget the infamous exploding whale debacle?

A guy in the parking lot at work was nearly beaned by a three pound catfish that fell from the sky last week. He didn’t see what dropped it but it was probably an eagle or osprey.

Reminds me of something that happenned at work a few years ago. There was a city park behind our warehouse and a very large oak tree. I saw a hawk sitting on one of the branches. It suddenly took off flying to my left. Next thing I see is the hawk coming back to my right flapping furiously. The hawk had a fish in its claws and was being chased by a bald eagle! I mentioned this to our book keeper the next day that I saw her. She said: “That explains why I saw a dead fish in the parking lot when I left the other day!”
The moral of the story is: If you have a fish, don’t tell the government because they will chase you down and try to take it from you.

If you can look at this picture without having to change underwear, you are not human. LOL, so what Dave is saying is he had to change his underwear before writing this article. interesting.

When I was a kid tubing behind a boat. The boat motor kicked up a fish that hit me across the face. Soon after I dropped off the tube since I no longer felt like continuing. As the boat came back to pick me up my buddies got a pretty good laugh when I explained how I developed a bloody nose.

In Minnesota, when we got tired of spearing carp, we shot them.
When shot, they don't float. Those Wisconsin guys just don't have a clue about carp hunting.

"Who could forget the infamous exploding whale debacle?" Back in the late '90s I was sent to Cp. Rilea to assist the OR National Guard in training for a Bosnia deployment. While there I met a ORNG Major who, in his younger days, had actually been the person who rigged the explosives on that baby. Between that, and the time I got to spend at Fort Clatsop, I felt as though I had touched history :-)

Obviously, we need to fund a study and form a task group to rehabilitate eagles.
The growing problem of eagles dropping fish is a concern to us all. We must work to improve the "hold rate" of eagles for the children.
