Pirates targeting ships not calling at Somalia
15 May 2007
Heavily armed pirates are subjecting vessels to violent attacks while in international waters
The attacks have been targeted towards vessels not calling at Somalia.
Vessels, not calling at Somalia, are advised to steer at least 200 NM clear of Somali waters at all times.

sink the buggers....
I’m curious as to how far off shore this Danish ship was. The piracy warning for the coast of Somalia has been out for a while now. But I was there last year for 2 1/2 months and there’s always those who think it’s not going to happen to them. We saw it.
As far as those slamming the French, they are part of CTF 150, as were we when I was there. For whatever reasons, CTF 150 has decided the 12 nautical mile territorial water limit is sacred. We were not allowed to cross even when in hot pursuit.
I’m guessing the DDG yesterday was detached from CTF-150 before their mission so as to avoid the multi-national ROEs.
Even 100 NM is a long way for those losers to swim home...
