Chavez's "PetroCaribe Plan" - Discounted Oil in Exchange for Embracing Socialism
Council on Hemispheric Affairs ^ | Jan 31st 2006 | Kaia Lai

"Under the agreement, Venezuela will cover shipping costs, aid in the development of distribution infrastructure and storage sites, contribute to the formation of state-controlled facilities, and provide fuel-efficient systems in member countries. The one catch is PetroCaribe will only deal with a state controlled entity, meaning that the PetroCaribe agreement is based on eliminating all intermediaries. “We’re not talking about discounts…We’re talking about financial facilities, direct deliveries of products, [and] infrastructure,” said Energy and Petroleum Minister and President of PDVSA, Rafael Ramírez; the goal is to cut down on unnecessary, middlemen costs......"

Man, Chavez really is a mad genius. I mean this is a masterstroke if you're an anti-capitalist (booo!)

We will give you discounted oil, build your infrastructure for you, refineries, etc, if YOU de-privatize your industry and come in league with us.

And when things get hairy, we'll ask you to ally with us militarily, and you'll have little choice since we built and control your means for getting oil. Sheesh!

The only problem I see with his plan is he’s going to have a head-on collision with his fellow Socialists who are working the globalist UN carbon tax scam.

One of the Kennedy’s rice bowl is to “provide” poor people with heating oil. He gets his oil from Venezuela as I understand it.

The scam is probably that he gets money from government to buy the oil for the poor.

Watch to see if the Kennedy go to bat for Chavez.

This can NEVER happen.

Middlemen will ALWAYS exist, whether legitimate or not.

The illegitimate middlemen, operating in the shadows of graft and corruptioin, will force costs higher than legitimate ones who operate above board where they can be observed and monitored.

As a classic example of what Chavez proposes, I present the incredible mess with state-owned oil production in Russia.

I’ve seen it first hand here on the island of Antigua,...and these third world countrys are sucking it in like they enjoy it. Gas prices are not down...government is pocketing the difference

No he isn't. This is standard Latin Beeg Man tactics: use the government to take over all private property and then dole out use of it to the Peons so that they remain calm and do what they are told.

It's the same way that Spaniard garbage like him have been operating in South and Central America for the last 5 centuries. Use of the word "Socialism" merely puts a veneer on it that gives it some sort of wonkhead legitimacy.

But the truth is that he's just doing what every Spaniard Conquistador before him has done.

1-800-CALL JOE!

Every time I hear about Hugo and “his” oil, I see red. What did the Venezuelans think that he was doing by grabbing private oil companies? And then there is third generation Boston crook, Smilin’ Joe Kennedy, bending over to kiss Hugo’s fat rear for some cheap oil. I will never forgive that lowlife for embarrassing our country and giving Hugo some leverage. May they both rot in hell!
The entire Kennedy clan is a pox upon the United States.

True - better to say he’s an idiot for thinking socialism can promote a successful economy in these areas.

But really, he’s not thinking about the economy here. Energy deals are a prelude to “mutual defense cooperation” which is a prelude to joint military exercises and then full on alliances.

I guess this is smarter than the Republicans, who are willing to pay in in hopes that you’ll be their friend.
