It’s not that he is saying it’s not amnesty. It’s what he is doing. Absolutely not caring about what the people in this country want. He is hell bent on doing this. He is also not being truthful holding everything secret.

White House officials said it had led them to engage the blogosphere in a concerted way for the first time, posting defenses on liberal and conservative sites.

So I assume that there are newbies here that are white House mouthpieces..

America does not need new immigration laws from this “comprehensive immigration bill” because the federal and state governments are enforcing existing immigration laws selectively.

For legal aliens trying to apply for immigrant status, the current laws are written in stone because these laws are strongly enforced. Yet for illegal aliens, the current laws are not written in stone because these laws are not enforced at all. This means our government officials are selectively enforcing immigration laws by choosing which laws will be enforced and which laws will not be enforced.

If government officials are willfully not enforcing existing illegal immigrations laws, these same government officials will not enforce all of the new illegal immigration laws they expect to write into law.

But our government officials can pretend to enforce illegal immigration laws by merely passing new illegal immigration laws that require a national identification card and special visa just for those aliens who broke our laws.
These new illegal immigration laws will only cost taxpayers billions or even trillions of dollars to just implement, that is, just to set up the people and resources needed to service and process tens of millions of illegal aliens.

The comprehensive illegal immigration bill is a way for government officials (Congress, Senate, Administration, Governors) to pretend that illegal alien enforcement is happening by handing out national I.D. cards and special visas. These handouts will look like our government officials are finally enforcing a law any law for illegal aliens. Then the news media will report these historic handouts and say what a great job these government officials did to begin enforcing our laws.

Yet no deportations or securing the borders will occur because government officials will continue to selectively enforce any law for illegal aliens.

President Bush is willingly riding shotgun with Ted Kennedy at the wheel, and the vehicle is careening towards the bridge...

The gist of the article is that if you are against this bill you are against the best interests of the country, you are ignorant, not a patriot, and flat out wrong.
President Bush and all the rest who support this bill, Dems and Repubs alike, are traitors.

Close to 6 years after 9/11 and we have 12M+ unknown people living ILLEGALLY in the country, many with forged state/federal documents, not paying taxes, receiving state/federal aid, lacking vaccinations, and some committing violent crimes against American citizens, while I.C.E. agents are sued/jailed for trying to secure our borders.

Homeland Security is a JOKE!

Do your job, Mr. President, and ENFORCE THE LAW!!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them. This is a bipartisan issue not a Conservative or Liberal issue BUT AN AMERICAN issue.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty

I’m done with Bush, and republicans are not far behind. I have defended Bush on many occasions, but now I am done.

This mess of an immigration bill, and the continuing mess in Iraq will guarantee a democrat in the White House in ‘08.

When one thinks about it, one may have to conclude that the “open borders” lobby may in fact be the most powerful special interest group in the country.

Large majorities of Americans have favored stronger border controls for decades.

Illegals are swamping the criminal justice system and everybody knows it.

And yet when push comes to shove (and it has to come to shove VERY HARD on this particular issue to even get any attention), the politicians will resort to the most transparent fraud to try to stiff-arm the popular will.

I mean really, has there been any legislation that was as outrageous and brazen a lie than the bill passed last year which purported to REQUIRE the government to construct a physical barrier on the border?

And then the Administration and Congressional leaders secretly defund the fence, and hope the public won’t notice?

And inserted provisions in their new “comprehensive solution” concluding that they wouldn’t have to build a fence at all if the government were simply to confirm to itself that the new legislation is likely to “work,” so we don’t need a fence anyway?

Nothing less than a stake through the very heart of this “open borders” “merge-with-Mexico” lobby is going to save this republic.

Mr. Rove said he did not think that anger over immigration within the party would affect support for the president on the war and other national security issues. “People are able to say, ‘I don’t need to agree with anyone 100 percent of the time to be with them on the most important issue facing America,’ ” he said.

That is a HUGE gamble there Rove .. and not one that I would bet on

And if you think I'm wrong .. this article from the NYT and their enjoyment of hammering it home should give those in the WH some pause and think seriously of dropping this immigration bill

They may think it's not amnesty .. but it's pretty damn close to it

I am so p*ssed about this whole idiotic episode I can't see straight! The 'Country Club Republicans' are at it again. They can all kiss my fanny. I want nothing to do with them anymore.

One thing I do know for sure, Jeb hasn't a chance in hell of getting my vote in any future presidential primary. I'm sure he would prove to be the same as dad and bro.

Every day that I log onto FR, I see more and shriller headlines referring to “the base”. Reminds me of a typical, early Chaves speech in which he says “democracy” twice a sentence. Makes us sound like al Qaeda.

That is an amazing admission! Posting on the public dime?
Any lawyers in the house who can tell us if this is legal?

They also noted that the most recent New York Times/CBS News poll showed 66 percent of Republicans supported its legalization provisions.

That is such BS!
