What gets me is, why is this even on the burner? Federal funds should be reserved for essentials, and groups like this racist piece of crap are destructive and hurtful.

I'm a pollyanna on hard times. I'm so disappointed in Bush for endorsing the global warming power-grab. I'm just aghast and disheartened. Then again, it's become so standard for Republicans to endorse less expensive versions of the same Federal meddling, that honestly, today's Republicans are just low-sodium Democrats.

It seems like party leadership -- not the ideal, but the leadership -- has utterly failed to defend and expound upon what I have always considered the Republican credo of smaller government and freer commerce. Everything else stems from that.

Why won't honest Republican politicians stand up and say, "Nothing is going to improve until we stop hampering businesses from employing teenagers and low-skilled by requiring a minimum wage." Minimum wage is that quiet thing in the background that generates chronic trouble, and must contribute hugely to the whole illegal Mexican immigrant problem. Our "minimum wage" is like a $30,000 per year job down there!

I wish Walter Williams was running. He'd never win, but I'd sure vote for him.
