Peggy Noonan and The WSJ Editorial - It's Time to Revolt!
Red State ^ | June 1, 2007

Posted on 06/01/2007 5:41:16 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

However, now I do not feel alone. Peggy Noonan has a new column up in the Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal. She has clearly said what has been getting me down. I think I knew what was up, but couldn't put a finger on it. I knew it centered around the immigration debate, and the way our congressional leaders are behaving. That sentiment especially includes Mr. Bush too, but when I read this column, I felt like Charlie Brown yelling at Lucy at her Psychology booth when he yells, "That's it!" when trying to identify why he can't get into the Christmas spirit.

Try this clip on for size :

The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place. This White House thinks its base is stupid and that its heart is in the wrong place.

For almost three years, arguably longer, conservative Bush supporters have felt like sufferers of battered wife syndrome. You don't like endless gushing spending, the kind that assumes a high and unstoppable affluence will always exist, and the tax receipts will always flow in? Too bad! You don't like expanding governmental authority and power? Too bad. You think the war was wrong or is wrong? Too bad.

But on immigration it has changed from "Too bad" to "You're bad."

The president has taken to suggesting that opponents of his immigration bill are unpatriotic--they "don't want to do what's right for America." His ally Sen. Lindsey Graham has said,

>> President Bush is telling us to go screw off. I wonder if he realizes he’s destroying the GOP? I wonder if he cares?<<

George Bush has proven to us that he is a condescending, arrogant man whjo thinks we are too stupid to understand his brilliant strategery. To the anti-American Defeatocrats, he is quick with, “I don’t question their partiotism.”

But with us, his base, he points his finger in our faces, stands in front of our flag, and says we are unpatriotic. No question about it.

I have lost a lot of credibility by defending this unworthy, backstabbing ******* so much in the past.

Never. Never. Never again.

Stop distorting what the President says, stop lying, stop being so hyper sensitive like a PC liberal, and stop your hate for President Bush. Hate is going to destroy you, it is already destroying. Hate has blinded you heart, your soul, and your mind and you cannot think straight, you cannot talk straight, and cannot write straight. You hate the President so much that if says Hello you are going to say he saying evil stuff about us.

Shame on you Bush haters, shame on you.
<<

With all due respect, you are the one who seems shrill and hysterical.

The kind that responded to your post to me. If you had a truce with JV, why did you post to me? Okay, we can just say lets agree to disagree. I will not be posting to you anymore on this thread. I guess we can call it a truce.

Daily you speak rubbish, and daily you are pounded over the head (figuratively), yet you keep coming back to speak your rubbish. Odd.

Not sleepy here, just wondering why you appear to “hate” what you perceive as “Bush Haters”. You’re a non-citizen minority, fine I don’t hold that against you, but I truely believe if Bush asked for you support unconditionally that you’d give it to him.

Just give me one single thing that he could do that you would say warrants impeachment. That’s all I ask from you :)

If he commits any high crimes and demeanors as the Constitution says, then in this case the President should be impeached.

Thanks the Lord the President has not done anything remotely close to that, and I am 100% sure that he will never do something like that.

Thanks the Lord we have a Great President and a Great Leader called G W Bush in this time of war.

God bless America, our brave troops, and President Bush.

Bush saves some of his harshest rhetoric of his presidency for his own side and fails to get tough and direct against our enemies (Wilson Affair, Alito smears, Durbin treason, Sandy Burglar, and on and on).

I’ve f’ng had enough.
<<

When Laura Bush insinuated that the opponents of Harriet Miers were sexists, and Bush let it go without comment, I knew without a doubt those people are nothing but arrogant phonies who have contempt for the conservative base.

“demeanors”

That’s misdimeanors. You are either very trusting of others, to a severe weakness, or you’re simply babbling in lieu of your citizenship. I repspect the institution of the Presidency of the United States. In doing this, I am also crystal clear that it is an institution and not a person. At least you answered my question, thanks. I don’t think there’s a crime that you’d put into either of the 2 categories though. Whatever the case, it would turn into “a conspiracy against Bush” I’m sure :)

“I believe in this President and his great leadership and I think he is one of the greatest President ever. History will prove me right.”

Believing in someone is completely empty. I could believe in you being impartial in reviewing Bush every day, but it would be fruitless. I won’t argue with how you think, so that takes care of the greatest President stuff. History is a very good teacher, this much I’ll admit is true.

It’ll never happen. S 1348 will pass in the Senate and House, and G.W. will sign it into law. It’s a done deal. There’s nothing that you or anyone else can do to stop it. Deal with it.

This whole website is overrun with DU and liberal hacks posing as conservatives and stirring up trouble with lies and half-truths. It’s a well practiced old Stalinist tactic.
<<

Spare me. Would you care to point out which posters are DU’ers, and which are liberal hacks posing as conservatives? And Stainists?

Or is it all of us?

That is just plain stupid.

Then how come you are in the DISTINCT minority on this issue, both nationally and here on FR, and among both Democrats and Republicans?

You might want to get a clue.

>>no hate—simply stating a request to be heard with the same kind ears he has for those others we all disagree with.<<

Same here.

Posters who use terms like “hater” or “Bush hater” use it as a cheap and dishonest way of demonizing honest dissenters.

It is used out of desperation.
