Official government file quotes unnamed source as claiming Shin Bet cooperated with Air France flight's hijackers, PFLP group, in instigating crisis in bid to weaken PLO

The state of Israel was behind the hijacking of an Air France plane to Entebbe in 1976, and cooperated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in staging the affair, a UK government file compiled at the time of the occurrences and published by the BBC Friday revealed.
According to the file released by the National Archives, an unnamed contact told a British diplomat in Paris that the Shin Bet and the PFLP collaborated to seize the plane, which was hijacked in Athens and flown to Entebbe in Uganda, where 98, most of hem Israelis, were held hostage.
The crisis was brought to an end after Israeli commandos stormed the airport. Three Israeli hostages and one Israeli commander, Yonatan Netanyahu, were killed during the raid.
In the document, written on 30 June 1976 when the crisis was still unresolved, DH Colvin of the Paris Embassy wrote that according to his source, "the hijack was the work of the PFLP, with help from the Israeli Secret Service, the Shin Bet.
"The operation was designed to torpedo the PLO's standing in France and to prevent what they see as a growing rapprochement between the PLO and the Americans."
He added: "My contact said the PFLP had attracted all sorts of wild elements, some of whom had been planted by the Israelis."

What it really does, though, is shine a light on our inability to do the same. If CIA were schooled by Shin Bet, half of Bin Ladin’s body guards would be CIA agents.

This is an incredible report, it just blew the cover of the Mossad. Given the skill and determination of the UK government employees in question, I shortly expect the following scandals to break:
1) The Israelis infiltrated Monica Lewinsky into the WH just to embarrass Clinton (she’s Jewish, and therefore automatically a Mossad agent).
2) The Israelis did the Watergate break-in, and botched it just perfectly enough to leave a trail of evidence leading back to Nixon. The Mossad also is responsible for the 18 1/2 minute gap in the tapes. All because Nixon didn’t like some Jews.
3) The Israelis killed Elvis, but not before they got him to sign over all of his royalties to a Mossad front company.
4) The Israelis killed both John and Robert Kennedy (come on, Jack Ruby was Jewish and an integral part of the cover-up, and Sirhan Sirhan was a Palistinian and therefore had to have been turned by the Mossad - it is SOOO obvious).
5) The Israelis are responsible for Global Warming - because warmer temps mean less Arab oil used to heat our homes.
Etc., etc., etc.

It must make life so much simpler if you can blame all of the problems of 6 1/2 billion people on about 15 million. The fact that most of whom are quite poor and uninfluential outside of their own homes (or inside, in the case of most Jewish men) means nothing to these whackjobs.

Anti-semitism, like anti-Catholicism, has always been a problem in England, although the English are usually decent enough to limit it to social rejection.
But things have clearly been worse among left-wing academics and others in recent years, and the BBC is a known hotbed of antisemitism.
Notice, too, that this “fact” is based on the unsupported testimony of “DH Colvin of the Paris Embassy.” I don’t know anything about D.H. Colvin, but I do know that the French have long been Arab lovers, and that antisemitism in France has been far worse than in England. In England they kept them out of their clubs; in France they helped the Germans put them on board the death trains.
A better headline for this article would have been “Newly Released Document Reveals that Former UK Ambassador to Paris was a Fruitcake.”
Sorry, One error in that headline. Colvin was First Secretary at the Paris Embassy, according to another article on this business.

I may be slow, but I’m having difficulty seeing what this has got to do with the BBC. The BBC is mentioned in passing, but is responsible neither for the original claim, nor for the release of the document under the 30-year rule, nor for the tendentious headline on this article. Whether the BBC gave a similar slant to the story in its own coverage, I don’t know: but there’s no evidence of that here.
You are quite right. BBC published the document in question, but the headline belongs to YNET. I don’t know what BBC’s headline was.
BBC is, however, notorious for its biased reporting of anything to do with Israel. It has plenty of competition in that regard, but has several times been voted as the worst offender.
It never ceases to amaze me. If these people think the Jews are so brilliant they could pull this off, I don’t understand why they don’t all just surrender right now. If you believe this schtuff, they’re obviously the masters of the universe and manipulate the rest of us just for fun.

Granted. But I think you ought to check your own history on that issue before you point fingers!
