“as Quayle’s misspelling of potato”

He misspelled nothing. My dictionary shows potato and potatoe as acceptable spellings.

Any “journalist” back then could have looked it up and seen the truth- but it’s more important for them to show all republicans as dumb.

Likewise Hillary missspelling today won’t get air time because all democrats are brilliant, even those that got lower grades than republicans or those who cheat at Spanish or drop out of school.

Not only did he use an acceptable spelling, if I recall correctly, he was using the spelling from a card given him during a spelling bee. The card was “wrong”, if anything was wrong. Yet the press had a field day criticizing him for it and questioning his intelligence.
