“It’s been very painful for me to come to the same conclusion.”

Why be pained?

Speaking from personal experience, the road less traveled has been a whole lot more satisfying than having to wince every time the GOP does something that puts it significantly to the left of the Democratic party circa 1960.

although there is more fence in the pipe line and more BP agents.

Both have already been fully funded - and the Administration is dragging its heals.

Hunter was on Sean Hannity's radio program two weeks ago.

Congress had already funded the approx 800 miles of double fence months ago, and when he checked 2.8 miles of one fence (not even double fence - just one layer) had been completed.

At that rate, Hunter calculated it will take around 30 years to complete.

I used to work in the Pentagon - the entire building was completed (from the first shovel full of dirt to 100% complete) in 18 months.

A former law enforcement officer told me the entire fence could be installed in less than a year.

The Administration has the money - Congress already approved it.

The sad truth is they don't want to build it.

Who does the RNC have advising them on these matters? These people really are the stupid party. Taking unpopular positions for the good of the country (e.g. WOT) is leadership. Takng actions that will overwhelm the resources of this country for no clear benefit other than to pander to certain political special interests, including the Mexican government (which, thanks to this policy, will not have a social security meltdown in 20 years).

“All the mail from RNC has been going in the trash here for over two years. They don’t get it - don’t understand that the Republican Party has become too liberal.”

Same here (and EXACTLY). If i want to vote for an irresponsible, out of control spendthrift government that aims to dismantle the constitution for its own political benefit, I’ll just vote for the Democrat party.

These Republicans who think that they can win by mirroring the big gov dems are defeating themselves on a few levels: they are alienating their base which will stay home or vote 3rd party (either tends to favor the dems), and the mindless sector of the electorate who lives off govt largess will never vote for a Republican, so they are hosed on that from too.

As I asked on another thread, who is advising the Republicans on these issues? If I didn't know any better I would guess it was James Carville.

“Pres. Bush waving goodbye to the GOP, his credibility on border security, and his loyal conservative base. “

All I have to say is conservatives should turn out in droves for Fred Thompson. I think that anything else will be a continuation of the RINO problem.

I just wish that DubYah’s first act as President was to have fired every single person hired by the Clintoons.

IOW, “There is a new Sheriff in town!”

He is probably a nice guy — FRom all accounts he is. But the crowd he has been turning the other cheek to over the past 6 1/2 years is stabbing him in the back at every chance.

Rush gave some advice to the House of Representatives Class of ‘94. Words to the effect that they should not try to make FRiends with the LIEberals (my spelling) in WDC.

I am sure he gave that same advice to DubYah, and DubYah ignored it, much to the detriment of his Presidency and the USA.

God help us if the Inside the Evil Beltway crowd of LIEberals win control of all three branches of government in ‘08!

If they do, it will largely be DubYah’s (and his dumbass advisor’s) fault.

When I think of what America could have been by now if DubYah hadn’t allowed somone to lock his testicles in a box . . . .

I’ll support him in the War on Terror, but that is about it.

Sure wish he’d unleash the Dogs of War, though. A whole lotta ragheads need killing, and for whatever the reason, the Bush Administration is loathe to let the Dogs of War loose.

The Republicans finally pi$$ed off enough people, didn’t they?

Took long enough, but, By George, They Did It!

Now, we have to work together to put the LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist Bastard Democrats back in their box and keep them out of WDC.

Our Challenge is to elect a Real American President, Senate and House in ‘08!

“Just sent in my letter to RNC...answered all the survey questions”

I don’t think they read these. They make it seem like you $$ is going to be used to advance the positions you indicate on teh survey, but in reality, they are just counting the $$.

This morning I sent the following hilarious piece to all my email friends. (With thanks to a clever Freeper who wrote it about 1000 postings ago.)

RNC: "Hello, sir, I'm from the Republican National Committee and I'm hoping you will contribute money today to help us pass the immigration bill.”
Victim: "But I hate that bill. It's pure amnesty. And I hate my Republican senators for being traitors.”
RNC: "Oh, no sir, it's not an amnesty."
Victim: "It is too. Just drop dead, all of you idiots."
RNC: "I'm so glad you agree with us on the not-an-amnesty bill. Can I write you down for $100 today, sir?"
Victim: "Why should I pay to have you people ruin the country?"
RNC: "Sir, perhaps you could support us with $50 today."
Victim: "I'd pay $50 to see an angry mob beat the crap out of those worthless bums in the Senate."
RNC: “Well, how about $25, sir?”
Victim: “Look, they can’t fool me this time. This bill is just a big payback to the big agricultural corporations for their campaign contributions.”
RNC: “Could you posibly donate $10 today, sir?”
Victim: “Call me when you get the fence built.”
RNC: "Will that be check or credit card, sir?"
Victim: “Can I go throw up now?”

How do we trust any candidate, including Fred Thompson, when we were all so trusting of GWB?

I don’t know whom to vote for, since I don’t trust any of them anymore.

Stupid, ignorant pubs will pay for their defection from conservative principles in the 2008 elections if they run any of the rino liberals whom they love; they must believe the conservative base is as ignorant as the liberal base.

That man Randy was beat because the RNC turned their backs on him. This amnesty program is nothing more than a trilateral commission stunt to bring about George Sr.'s "New World Order." It doesn't matter what we want so long as their one world government is established and we are enslaved.

I'm not ducking a darn thing and you are not using the word correctly. I did not call anyone dishonest--I called use of the word "amnesty" dishonest as it was presented. I agree, words do mean something. Please read up!

By definition, amnesty cannot be an inaction (i.e. the absence of enforcement) as you and Ken Mehlman would like the country to believe. Look at most any definition and you will find it is an act, something granted by government. Using it otherwise is not only incorrect, it is dishonest and insults the intelligence of those familiar with the meaning of the word.

Bouvier's Law Dictionary, 1856 Edition
"amnesty, government. An act of oblivion of past offences, granted by the government to those who have been guilty of any neglect or crime, usually upon condition that they return to their duty within a certain period. "
Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edition (1999).
"amnesty. A pardon extended by the government to a group or class or persons, usually for a political offense; the act of a sovereign power officially forgiving certain classes of persons who are subject to trial but have not been convicted.... Unlike an ordinary pardon, amnesty is usually addressed to crimes against state sovereignty - that is, to political offenses with respect to which forgiveness is deemed more expedient for the public welfare than prosecution and punishment. Amnesty is usually general, addressed to classes or even communities. Also termed general pardon. "
Black's Law Dictionary, 8th Edition 2004
amnesty: ... "a sovereign act of forgiveness for past acts granted by a government to all persons or a certain class of persons who have been guilty of a crime or a deceit. "
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000
amnesty: "A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses."
The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001-05.
amnesty: "in law, exemption from prosecution for criminal action. It signifies forgiveness and the forgetting of past actions. Amnesties are usually extended to a group of persons during a period of prolonged disorder or insurrection. The criminals are offered a promise of immunity from prosecution if they will abandon their unlawful activities. After a revolution or civil war the victorious side will often extend amnesty to the losers; e.g., the United States granted a qualified amnesty to the Confederate forces after the Civil War. An amnesty is distinguished from a pardon, which is an act of forgiveness after the criminal has already been convicted. "

I expect that most members of the base will end up voting for the Republican regardless, but...

Voting for the Republican is a very small fraction of what the base normally does. How many members of the base will feel motivated to donate time and treasure toward getting a Giuliani elected?

Individual contirbution losses outpaced by increased bribe-flows from corporate interests to profit off Bush’s wage depression “growth” policies.

Corporations can't vote, individuals can. The RNC can get all the money they like from the corporate world, but they'll still be screwed if they can't get GOP voters to the voting booths. If the elections were held tomorrow, it would be a disaster for the GOP.
