Researchers are optimistic that two humpback whales are back in the ocean today after an unusual two-week stay in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.

Come on, how many options are there, really? Somebody go check Los Angeles. They might be downtown.

My version of the whale story: There was a Yorkie dog loose on a back country road here in Metrowest MA, 6 am last week. Chased him for half an hour and couldn’t catch him. Police/dog officer threw up their hands...no town leash law.) I travel on that road twice a day and haven’t seen him since....hoping he’s back home. (He was adorable.)

Whales disappear -- rescuers believe they're back at sea

They just didn't look in the right place. Unfortunately, both of the giant creatures are alive and well and hanging out in various New York eateries.

"They could be anywhere,"

Did you look in the linen closet and the junk drawer?
