Are we ready to do what it takes to reclaim the Republican Party?

"Rebuilding" is a very trying experience for baseball fans. It's what owners do when they decide that the current team is overpayed, underperforming, and irreformable. They clear out the current regulars and make room for new talent. In the meanwhile, though, fans have to suffer through a few seasons of not even hoping to win.

When done well, it works. The New York Yankees found themselves paying the highest salaries year after year in the 1980s. Although they had the best winning percentage overall for that decade, they had no division titles, let alone World Series championships, to show for it. They rebuilt in the early 1990s, and ended up winning four World Series in five years, largely based on the performance of new, home-grown stars like Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte.

That the Yankees did undergo rebuilding was amazing, since George Steinbrenner always ran the team like there was no next year... and that's what the puppet-masters in Washington rely on the party faithful acting like each election.

It's time to say: no more. For five years, the Republican Party controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency, and we have nothing to show for it but a few trillion more dollars of debt.

One positive that has come out of this immigration deal is that the faces of the Republican Party have been revealed, and my God! are they hideous! The GOP establishment has made plain that they have nothing but contempt for middle Americans, regarding us "racist," "prejudiced," "nativist," and "ignorant." It's time they go.

We must rid the GOP of the likes of Sens. Lindsay Graham, Dick Lugar, and Chuck Hagel. They are from deep red states, and still rule over us like Marxist overlords. They voted to permit local governments to obstruct justice by harboring fugitive aliens, including terrorists. We must defeat them in primaries at all costs. We know who the enemies of America are.

The hatred of the GOP establishment for America is more widespread than those two, however. I believe we have to go after Senators from purple states, too, to declare, once and for all, that betraying America is not an acceptable strategy to hold on to control. As they come up for re-election over the next six years, we must reject the RINOS like Sens. Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, and George Voinovich, but also the fake conservatives like Pete Domenici, and John Warner.

Don't fall for ratings like those from lobbyist clubs like the American Conservative Union. Too often, "85% conservative" means only that the senator's vote was needed for treachery only 15% of the time.

Yes, in the short run, there may be more Democrats elected. But we have to recognize that there is a difference between electing loyal Americans and electing Republicans; and there is no difference between having Arlen Specter rule and having Pat Leahy rule.

People staying home did not cost Republican seats. Republicans didn’t get the job done. I held my nose but others weren’t buying what was being sold. Take away any cheat % and the election went as it was designed. I’m really concerned because instead of fixing the problem for the last 3 years all I still see is “whose fault it is”. The enemy is probably laughing.

So what’s your plan to go after Luger, Voinovich, Snowe, Specter, Warner, Graham, Hagel, ect?

Do we have candidates waiting in the wings? Financing? PR firms? Media? Organizations in each State?

Have these Candidates been vetted? Are they media savvy? Name recognition?

Will they be supported utterly and completely by FreeRepublic?

Finally, is this a 2 year plan? Five year plan? Ten or Twelve year plan?

We DID all that rebuilding and Reclaiming. We got the people elected and won a majority, including the White House. It was TIME for all of our goals to begin their way towards fruition. Instead?

No Child Left Behind

MediCare Prescription Drug Benefits

Wide open borders, DESPITE 9-11

Growth of the FedGov And the associated increase in spending

And NOW, to TOP IT ALL OFF, amnesty for illegal felons here.

I fear we that we are collectively directing our urine streams into the proverbial fan.

No, we were so hungry for a majority, we took whatever Republicans we could get. Now, we have to choose the RIGHT Republicans.

Is to stay home on election day to teach those republicans in Congress a lesson. Oh! We did that in 2006 and now have no majority in the House to stop this insane immigration bill.

You might have stayed home but conservatives did not, they voted. Unfortunately for Republicans, Independents turned against them in droves.

It is tiresome to keep reading this BS that conservatives did not vote for conservative candidates. Not once has anyone showed that this happened nationally.

It is true that many conservatives will no longer vote for liberals, even if they're Republican, but this is not to teach anyone a lesson, it is merely being true to ones principles, something the Republican party might think about doing.

>> Finally, is this a 2 year plan? Five year plan? Ten or Twelve year plan? <<

It’s a six-year plan. That’s how long it’d take to return a GOP candidate to a seat lost to a Democrat.

>> Do we have candidates waiting in the wings? Financing? PR firms? Media? Organizations in each State? <<

PR Firms, dreams of finding friendly media, and party-insider organizations are the problem. Financing will follow if we support the right candidates, but the sellouts to the Chambers of Commerce will always be wealthier.

>> So what’s your plan to go after Luger, Voinovich, Snowe, Specter, Warner, Graham, Hagel, ect? <<

Yup. Those are pretty much the Satanic Seven.

>> Have these Candidates been vetted? Are they media savvy? Name recognition? <<

Market follows demand. As for name recognition, primary opponents never have name recognition except what they build themselves.

>> Will they be supported utterly and completely by FreeRepublic? <<

Give all the lemmings who supported Arnold over McClintock, probably not, although that’s not a perfectly parallel case.

Of the 39 house Republicans who were booted, only 15 sponsored English as our official language. That’s 38%. On the other hand, 68% of all House Republicans sponsored it. And Republican congressmen from blue and purple districts were just as likely to sponsor it as those from very red districts.

There were a few patriots lost in 2006, like Hostetler (IN) and Hayworth (AZ), but very few.

Ah got it. Since I thought it was guys like Fred Thompson that were being dismissed in the original post (Fred has an ACU rating of 86, which means 14% of the time he’s not a conservative), I assumed a new face was coming like Tom Coburn or someone like that.

If we had a Republican president instead of an elitist snob who thinks conservatives are racist, sexist, ignorant hicks, we wouldn’t have to worry ???

Does the name FRED ring a bell?

The actual core of the Republican Party is the local club. There are enough Freerepublicans to make a substantial difference at the Local club level. Participate in the Pre-primaries and primaries, and all these squabbles will seem like a bad memory. Never ever vote for anyone who supports abortion, a tax increase, or political correctness, and about every other issue kinda takes cake of itself.
In the current state of affairs, when you get the fund-raising message, send it back saying that you will send no money to the party until it starts enforcing the borders.

We're probably stuck with RINOs in the blue states. But there is no reason to tolerate them in the red states, and there will be work to be done to turn purple states into red ones.

Then it won't matter how many RINOs or Rat Socialists get sent to Congress from the blue states.

The republican party of 2007 is the similar to the Whig party of 1856. Disagreement amongst party members over slavery in the Territories was the hot argument of the day and it tore the party in half.

Illegal immigration is the hot issue that is tearing the republican party apart today.

It needs to die. There’s too large a discrepancy between the country clubbers and their demand for cheap illegal labor and the common man who has to compete against illegals for jobs and wages.

Absolutely. First to go in the harbor would be Dick Lugar.
