Professor who attended Holocaust conference blasts critics as Islamophobes

A Canadian political scientist excoriated for attending what was widely labelled a Holocaust-denial conference in Tehran has retaliated with a blistering published attack on his university president and his colleagues for being illiterate Islamophobes.

Writing in the influential Literary Review of Canada, Shiraz Dossa, a tenured professor at Nova Scotia's St. Francis Xavier University, said that his academic integrity and academic freedom were grossly impugned by the university administration, an assault on his reputation that he said has yet to be remedied.

He accused the president and chancellor of authorizing a "small Spanish Inquisition" to denounce him - a campaign he said was initiated by two Jewish professors and the Christian chair of the political science department.

Prof. Dossa also wrote that the attack on his reputation was launched by The Globe and Mail's editorial board and by columnists John Ibbitson and Rex Murphy, whom he described as being "intellectually just a cut above the Trailer Park Boys" and ignorant of the Middle East.

Tenure is the refuge of those that have little to no real ability, and are terrified of the question ‘What have you produced from your efforts that warrants continued employment.’

Want to know whats wrong with higher education?

Tenure.

James Turk, executive director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, likened the treatment of Prof. Dossa to the 1950s McCarthy period in the United States when academics and others were subjected to intense pressure not to attend events that were unpopular

In other words, the accused are actually guilty, but instead the accuser will be smeared relentlessly?

Dear so-called professor: as the t-shirt says, “all I need to
know about Islam I learned on 9/11”.

Its funny but the more supposedly intelligent one is the less they think anyone else has intelligence.

Intelligence doesnt stop one from being a fool.

This fool doesnt believe in the holocaust? I believe his academic freedom allows that he can believe that if he wishes. It also says he may have the greatest academic and certifiable documents to state he is a smart fellow, but he is one stupid bigoted anti-semite POS.

Why is someone named Shiraz Dossa teaching at a school called St. Francis Xavier University? I am assuming this is a Catholic school. Why would they hire a rabid, foaming at the mouth towel head to teach students there?

These PsOS just keep popping up, and aren't smart enough to keep their mouth shut and their profile low. Here' some stuff about him, including his own website: Shiraz Dossa is a political scientist at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. A brief review of his writings quickly reveals that Prof. Dossa belongs to that school of intellectuals who believe "the Zionist strategy is one of aggressive ethnocide" against Palestinians and that "development" is "quintessentially developmental imperialism." His writings on the political philosopher Hannah Arendt, though controversial, have received critical praise.

Some of his students have apparently complained to a rate-my-professor website that the professor's classes include watching satirical American television shows and trash-talking George W. Bush. Others, however, praise him for standing up to Western imperialism and insist that he is not at all anti-American; they say his lectures are worthwhile.

Prof. Dossa does not deny the Holocaust, though he finds it ironic and tragic that its victims are persecuting Arabs just as they were persecuted by the Nazis. His loathing of what he believes to be America's war of terror against Islam and his solidarity with those who resist American imperialism led him to accept an invitation to attend this week's Tehran conference on the Holocaust.

Dr. Shiraz Dossa Professor of Political Science Nicholson Hall 513, (902) 867-2105 sdossa@stfx.ca Shiraz Dossa was born and initially miseducated in a multiracial British colony in Africa where he did manage to acquire a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science, even though he did not relish wearing the mandatory undergraduate red gown for lunch and dinner. Later he succeeded, accidentally, in earning both an MA and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. But his miseducation, regrettably, continued under the guidance of scholars like C. B. Macpherson, Christian Bay and Peter H. Russell at the U of T...

Oh, and...”Dossa finds it ironic and tragic that Holocaust victims are persecuting Arabs just as they were persecuted by the Nazis...” Yes, all those concentration camps for killing innocent Palestinians that Israel has set up. What a load of ignorant crap.

I can only form an opinion based on the article but in that light I do not see this guy as a ‘denier’.

His politics are certainly not mine but he says he was looking at the Holocaust from the perspective of its use to promote Israel and an Israel homeland and how to counter that view.

He also states that Holocaust deniers are ‘absurd’.
