I don't want you to misunderstand...I'm with you...these scum need to be exterminated as quickly as possible. But, we need to find some balance between destroying the scum while reducing the US presence in the middle east and avoiding killing civilians whose families might not otherwise have been sympathetic enough to become jihadists themselves...AQ and their imitators have decentralized and, if US intelligence is to be believed, expanded. In my opinion, the invasion of Iraq was a collosal mistake...as Scheurer wrote, it validated everything OBL had been telling the Muslim world for 10 years. Lawrence Wright who won a Pulitizer for The Looming Tower (a great read on AQ if you've not read it), believes that OBL badly miscalculated on 9/11...and after the invasion of Afghanistan, the world had repudiated AQ and 80% of its leadership had been killed or captured...then the invasion of Iraq reignited a nearly dead AQ jihadist movement. Now Wright believes the US needs to stay in Iraq but he also believes that AQ is happy now whether the US stays or goes...there are no good options left
I understand that the invasion of Iraq is water under the bridge and there is no point in rehashing whether or not it was the right thing to do except that I see Ron Paul routinely slammed on here for a position that I think has been vindicated by the events of the last 4 years

Read an interesting Eu blog about Muslim EU residents yesterday. Can’t remember where, was having trouble getting onto FR, so clicked around. Anyway, the author moaned about lax immigration laws, cited Norway in particular, who let in tens of thousands of Muslims, thinking they’d ‘westernize/civilize’ them. It didn’t happen. Muslims still mired in their ninth century mindset, like pigs in clover, actually. (Author didn’t blame Islam, but it doesn’t take Einstein to figure it out.)
Also evidence that Sweden...the city of Malmo, their third largest...is now a Muslim mess. Rape and violence against Swedish girls and women so prevalent that it’s hardly news.
