See also post 35. I had not read this before I made my post. I am sure some men were captured but killed shortly afterwards if they were in the hands of local units.

Yes, I agree....men who I knew that did cross-border recon held little hope if they were captured....the Pathet Lao were particularly ruthless....it was felt that a man had a better chance if he were in the hands of a regular NVA unit....the political officers attatched to those formations saw value in American prisoners.
