Brown recruits from the Hollyweird (read $$$) crowd, bending over backwards to admit them. There's a fairly recent book out on college admissions by a WSJ reporter named Dan Golden.
(I just remember the similarities in the name to the worst director in NASA's history.)

There's a story that Woodrow Wilson approached Andrew Carnegie about endowing Princeton with a law school.
Carnegie was of the mind that rowing was a better pursuit for young men than the study of law, and gave money toward improving the rowing at Princeton.

"Brown is a much better school than Duke, anyway...Duke is a pretend ivy-league..."
Brown is ALSO a "pretend" Ivy League...... :^)
It's academic standards have been sliding for a long time. Brown U. is one of the worst bastions of politically correct b.s. around. I would never advise anyone who's gone through the ordeal that the Duke lax players went through to try to resolve the situation by ending up at Brown. I wish Mr. Seligman all the best, and I hope he doesn't end up getting harassed by the Femi-Nazis that rule at Brown.

I don’t know. I might go back to Duke just to rub it in their faces. Sue their pants off at the same time I’m attending class. Come out with a degree and $200 million from the lawsuit.

I guess I wouldn’t go back.
But I’d take the $200 million. :)

Brown parent here and lurker for oh so many years. Brown is indeed very liberal...what a surprise. That being said, the students there have more respect than any other institution that I have seen for those who hold opposing viewpoints.
Reade will be fine there. Brown is a great place. Yeh, it has its kooks, but people there seem to at least have an open mind about other viewpoints...unlike a lot of other places of higher learning.
