One of the biggest, most reliable frauds that is constantly perpetrated these days is the way political candidates manage to convince people who enjoy the highest standard of living in the history of mankind that they are actually living in severe financial distress.

Just last summer I had a co-worker complain that "something must be done" about high fuel prices . . . because he paid over $1,000 in fuel for his boat over the 4th of July weekend.

It would be funny if it weren't so damned pathetic. Though maybe it's funny anyway.
