It wasn't Miss USA's night.
Booed mercilessly at the Miss Universe pageant by a Mexican audience angry at U.S. immigration policy, and seen by millions of TV viewers as she slipped and fell on the pageant stage, Miss USA Rachel Smith nonetheless managed to take the high road and offer her Spanish-speaking hosts an enthusiastic, "Buenas noches Mexico. Muchas gracias!"
Smith, 22, from Clarksville, Tenn., who was crowned Miss USA last March, was continuously jeered by the mostly Mexican audience during the pageant's interview phase.
The pageant was won by Miss Japan, Riyo Mori, a 20-year-old dancer, marking only the second time her country has won the world beauty title.
Miss USA finished fifth.
Pageant owner Donald Trump downplayed the booing, saying it was aimed at American policies and not Smith.
"We believe it wasn't Rachel being booed but the USA and some of our policies as a country," pageant spokeswoman Lark-Marie Anton told FOXNews.com. "The booing was unfortunate, but Rachel represented the USA with style and grace. She was extremely dignified.
Asked whether the Mexican audience reaction would affect the pageant's return there, Anton said: "The Universe pageant traditionally goes to different countries yearly, so we wouldn't have the pageant in Mexico next year. Mr. Trump also mentioned in last night's press conference the possibility of Japan as a host country for next year."
She added that it would be "drastic" to never have the show in Mexico again because of Monday night's crowd reaction.

I agree with you we are a stupid country. We’ve been sending foreign aid to Mexico for 50 plus years and the rest of Latin America and any other country that will take our money. Then those kids grow up to be little Marxists, pick up AK 47s and come after us. We will never learn.

There is intelligence involved in deciding who to vote for. First, you need to be informed. If the general voting population was as knowledgeable about the issues as they are about basketball and baseball etc, I believe we would be better off.
Second, you need to understand the history of our country and how past decisions by our government affected us. We seem to be ignorant of where we HAVE been and refuse to see where we ARE going. I hope you get my reasoning.
But on the other hand, you may be right. If intelligence HAD something to do with it, maybe we would NOT have 20 million illegal aliens here and this would not be a crisis.
Well, what do you expect? Most people in Mexico are not too high up on the food chain, intelligence-wise.

All of those people you name are secondary to this debate. The President, whom you left off your list, has been pushing this issue for years. As others on the board have said, we choose to ignore it because of his stance on other issues. His position on immigration, and by extension, his total disregard for the citizens of this country is what is shameful.

I just got back from Mexico a couple weeks ago. Went there with my wife and our Spanish Professor to visit. We saw places many tourists do not see. One thing I noticed is there was trash EVERYWHERE. Even in Mexico City there were days if not weeks worth of trash piled up on the side streets that I saw.
