These are the best pictures of the Greensburg, Kansas Tornado that I've seen anywhere.
The site features about 40 high resolution photos of the devastation.
The snaps are covered with a strict copyright, are available for sale to the public, and apparently are a source of income for the website's owner. Therefore, only a link is provided.
The damage is incredible!

It’s so sad.
Prayers to those who devastated by this. It’s hard to rebuild. I hope they find the strength to do this.

At least it hung a few flags before it left town.

Our local paper has been running stories on the F-5 Jarrell,TX tornado for it’s 10 yr anniversary (5.27.1997)
It ripped asphalt off roadways and completely removed houses including their concrete slabs, leaving nothing but, scarred earth. A total of 27 souls lost their lives that day including, entire families. I don’t need to pay some jerk who, is making money off of misery, a dime to see what I’ve seen with my own eyes.

Some of them looked a bit staged. Or perhaps exposure to the MSM has made me a bit cynical.

We all need to remember Jarrell though and what these tornados can do. Don’t you think the one the ..I think Weather Channel plays occasionally is ok?

NOAA still has a lot of good information up on Jarrell, including animated radar showing how that odd storm formed that day.

I was thinking people there, put those flags up.

What amazes me is the damage to steel-and-concrete buildings, like the city hall.
I expect to see mobile homes reduced to flinders, but not nothing surviving of a steel-and-concrete building except the doorway.
This one wasn't survivable unless you were in an underground shelter.

Perhaps. I was thinking of the spiderman picture (although someone other than the photographer may have set it up, and the heart) and the girl on the merry-go-round.

Last night on National Geographic they showed the Jarrell tornado. What a crazy tornado it was, came out of nowhere moving at less than 10mph, because of that slow speed it essentially had time to sit and scour the ground. In contrast the Greensburg tornado moved faster than 30mph so it didnt have time to sit and scour.

I remember after the Jarrell, TX tornado, I was out at a club here in Houston, TX. In walked Doug Superinaw for a benefit concert. All the money raised by beer sales, and donations were then put into a Jarrell fund. Some woman in the audience convinced Doug to auction his blue jeans off, and (fortunately) one of the KILT guys had a pair of sweats in the car to loan him.
Strange that I just read an article on Doug that he’s lost his ever loving mind, but the thing I remember about him that night was his sincerity in wanting to help others.

My wife and I were storm chasers the day of the Jarrell tornado. (amateur) We live in western Williamson county and drove to Georgetown to try and intercept. On our way back We stopped because the air was full of electricity with the most amazing lighting I've ever seen. We saw it reform, heading towards the Albertsons store in Ceder Park. Followed it west of CP towards Lake Travis. At that point it was twin tornadoes and the hail began to pelt our truck. The storm continued across the lake and cut a long path on the western side of the lake, taking another victim.
Needless to say, that was the last storm chase I'll ever convince my Wife to take and one that will be etched in our memories forever.

That was a biblical storm. It touched down at Belton Lake, tore up a marina, skipped over our home and Belton before reforming near Salado and ripping through Jarrell. That one still burns in the memory banks.
