After failing to hear from state Sen. Ophelai Ford by late Saturday afternoon, concerned family members were planning to head to Nashville to bring her home, said Shelby County Commissioner Joe Ford.
We know that she checked out of the Holiday Inn in Nashville but we don't know what other hotel she checked into," Ford said of his sister. "But we will be going to Nashville to get her."
Ophelia Ford has blamed a string of bizarre episodes in Nashville on 'chronic anemia." She has flatly denied any suggestion that she has a drug or alcohol problem.
Joe Ford Said he hopes to be in Nashville by today with a niece to bring his sister back to Memphis, but that depends on their ability to reach her by cell phone. She has repeatedly ignored his calls, Joe Ford said.
"We just hope she will answer her cell phone and tell us what hotel she is at," he said.
Give it time.

The latest camera siting has her waltzing down a legislative hall way...in a pair of fancy jeans carrying a bottle of water and a empty bag of potato chips.
Hiding is not unusual for her the press gets told from behind a closed door that she doesn't want to talk to them.

Ophelia Ford refused to talk to family members who traveled to Nashville Sunday to bring the state senator home for help.
Shelby County Commissioner Joe Ford and two relatives left for Nashville at 6 a.m. Sunday, hoping to bring her home and admit her into rehab.
When the party reached the Holiday Inn near Vanderbilt, they called Ophelia Ford.
"She found out we were at her door, turned the phone off and wouldn't answer her door. We stayed there about three hours and finally came home.
"That's about all I can do. We're washing our hands of it until she decides to reach out for help," Joe Ford said.
"She knew we were on our way, but when she found out we were at the door, she hung up. She wouldn't answer the cell, the door, the hotel phone," he added.
Ophelia Ford's behavior has been very erratic of late, including a tirade at a senate committee meeting, a hospitalization after falling off a bar stool while reportedly intoxicated, and an altercation with a Nashville cab driver.
She has repeatedly denied suffering from drug or alcohol problems, blaming her behavior on anemia.
She didn't answer a reporter's calls to her cell phone Sunday.

Just came on the radio. They found Ophelia at another hotel, but she refuses to come back to Memphis with her brother Joe.
If she is as frail as she claims, why doesn’t Joe, who is a big healthy man, just pick her up and put her in the car and head down I40 to home?
You're probably thinking about Sen. Harold Ford, not Joe. Harold is a nephew of the elderly "Lindsay Lohan of Memphis" (aka Ophelia Ford).
