The function of the American military is to kill people and break thing. It is NOT to “win the hearts and minds of the people!”

As with Vietnam, when our military is no longer allowed to do it’s job, it is time for them to come home.

If you want to continue our efforts of winning the hearts and minds of the people of Iraq, then I strongly suggest sending in the Peace Corpse or some other pansy-assed organization.

That is not what our military is for!

I agree with you wholeheartedly, there’s no reason not to believe this story as it is not an isolated incident, and FReepers were also on the front lines rushing to judgment condemning WAPO for the Walter Reed fiasco and we see what happened with that story.

Just because the motive of the Slimes isn’t pure if the story is true then it should be judged on its merits, just as doubts continue to grow amongst former war-supporters here in America like myself I see no reason why the same wouldn’t be happening over there with our troops, even moreso.

actually, winning people over to freedom is a big part of our miltitary. They are helping to establish order in all of the various towns after the enemy is cleaned out. I’m sure there was much of that after world war two. I know there were generals in charge of establishing a good democracy in Japan after her defeat. Just killing people and breaking things sounds to the point, but there’s a bit more to it than that.

The Iraq War is a lot like the Korean War
except, in 2007, we have

The Democrats want to repeat the mistakes of the early 1950's.

The Truman administration pulled our troops out of a vulnerable and chaotic South Korea in 1949, 4 years after S. Korea was freed.

One year later, after North Korea invaded and occupied most of the South, Truman sent troops back to re-free the South Koreans. Things got out of hand and 30,000 men died in 30 months under Truman (Talk about military casualties --- that's an average of 1,000 per month)

"Most everyone agrees that had the U.S. troops remained, there would have been no war."

I think most people know that the Iraqis will be vulnerable to invasion from Iran, if we abandon them now.

The question is...Why do Democrats insist on weakening the US?

Winning their hearts and minds is irrelevant. Sending in some nongovernmental agency to placate and "help" the enemy will result in so-called "peace corps" members being captured, tortured, killed and mutilated for public display on some light-post.

The goal should always be to slaughter as many of the enemy as possible, break their wills, dry up their recruitment pools and subjugate the enemy populace until such time that a government of peaceable indiginent citizens can be installed to keep their violent countrymen in check.
