Ping!
Without more information, it is impossible to provide a more educated impression.
You may have just hit the nail on the head.
When she developed the first “splotch” I had just prior taken her to the dermatologist for an infection in her toenails caught at the swim club.
Fungi, if I remember correctly, are odd buggers to say the least. They eat, linger, sleep, and awake at their leisure ... especially during stressful times.
We were promptly warned then that so-called “country clubs” weren’t necessarily the cleanest of places.
Were the hospital here reliable, I would take her immediately. Unfortunately, my Dad was treated months for a kidney infection when all along he had lung and bone cancer.
Thank you all so very much for taking the time to reply. She’ll be seeing a dermatologist Tuesday. However, as any parent can understand, Tuesday seems decades away right now.
God Bless
Ping. We need med help.
I don’t know anything at all about medicine, and I am not down playing the urgency of the situation. I’m just expressing my opinion, for whatever it’s worth.
Ta for your post. I have discoid lupus and am sending her to my dermatologist on Tuesday. Thank you very much for your good advice.
God Bless
She is able to wash and condition her hair on her own. Sorry if I came across that she wasn’t able. I live out of state and still enjoy doing her hair and nails and such while I’m with her, as mothers will do with their daugters. I stay as motherly as possible. She turned 26 Friday and still puts up with me. :-)
OMG! sounds awful! I’m going to take a shower!
I’m sorry to say one can’t usually diagnose a skin condition from a description; someone has to actually see it, or at least a picture of it. This is outside my field, but I would add my voice to those who suggest taking her to urgent care or a minor emergency clinic. They may not be able to diagnose it, but they should be able to tell you if it’s dangerous and needs immediate treatment.
Thank you for your reply, NN.
I thought about the photo bit myself, but I know she would never agree with it although her face would not appear.
Still, I’m searching the Internet to find a photo to match her condition.
Scleroderma
Acanthosis Nigricans
Could be lots of different things, some of them harmless, some of them not. Go to a health clinic at your first reasonable opportunity - your daughter will likely be referred to a dermatologist.
Your opinion is worth a lot, and I sincerely thank you for it.
Does she have any other health problems?
I wish all the best for you and your daughter.
Please accept my thanks for your trouble in taking the time to post this list.
No other physical ailments, GITP. However, skin problems tend to run in our family.
Thank you for taking the time here.
Nothing at all similar to the pics and I actually ran across the facial photo myself while searching. Completely different, however, from what appears on my girl.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look it up.
Please take her to the ER if she is experiencing any fever, tenderness on the rash, mental confusion or other neuro symptom and/or swelling at the abdomen. Rashes are usually a symptom of a disease or a reaction to an allergen. It may be a fungal infection. But the types and causes of rashes are so varied it is impossible to pin a cause down.
Could your daughter have been bitten by a tick?
Took a look but not even close. I’m beginning to think it may be fungal.
Thank you for consideration for a stranger. Good you must be.
