A May 15 story in The Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio) serves as a good reminder of how a persons support for gun control often changes after a personal experience with crime.
State Representative Michael DeBose (D-12) of Cleveland was an opponent of Right-to-Carry, having voted against the measure twice. All that changed on the night of May 1, when he was confronted by two men, one of whom was wielding a gun. On that night, Rep. DeBoses sense of security in his neighborhood changed, as did his view on lawful citizens being able to defend themselves.
Rep. DeBose was luckythis timethat his running, screaming, and summons for help prevented him from being harmed. When asked how this recent experience may change the prism through which he views Right-to-Carry, Rep. DeBose was crystal clear: "I was wrong. I'm going to get a permit and so is my wife. I've changed my mind. You need a way to protect yourself and your family. I don't want to hurt anyone. But I never again want to be in the position where I'm approached by someone with a gun and I don't have one. There are too many people who are just evil and mean-spirited. They will hurt you for no reason. If more people were packing guns, it might serve as a deterrent.
We welcome Rep. DeBose to the growing list of Right-to-Carry converts. While it is too bad it took a life-threatening situation to convert him, we hope he will share his experience, and his newfound respect for the right to self-defense, with his other colleagues who still dont get it. It is our hope they wont have to endure a similar experience to do so.
Ding ding ding!
Another Democrat finally Gets It!
Too bad it usually takes a mugging to get one there...
State Bill 1007, banning magazines with higher capacity that 10.
I can immediately name about a dozen folks from my plant in Detroit who have been mugged, robbed and/or shot. Tony M. was found shot in his car many years ago only a block away from the ploant. William B. was robbed and killed back in late October late one night coming home from a big winning at one of the casinos, the other was shot and killed in his house this past January.
Detroit is not safe and I never enter it without carrying a firearm and so I avoid going there unless absolutely necessary.
My guess is that the scumbag mayor spends about $1,000,000 a year of taxpayer money on a 24 hour guard detail to make sure that his precious hide remains intact from the dangers that beset ordinary Chicago serfs.
Speaking of the NRA and dues. EVERYONE who supports the 2nd Amendment and / or the right to carry should become a Life Member or be part of their EPL program.
Don’t you have a local ordinance on how long you have to wait before picking up a transfer from out of state?
Here in NM, you can fill up a wheelbarrow with all the guns you can carry if the 4473 checks out.
Nope. The last several pistols I bought were from a large mail order broker in Austin, TX. They shipped to my FFL, I picked up the day they came in.
Here's my next acquisition:

Enjoy! I’m on a Browning A-5 binge recently, picked up a light 12 NIB from 1959 and a standard 16 from 1953.
Only when the NRA starts supporting gun owners instead of cozying up to Democrat politicians and dropping the ball elsewhere.
