IRS Caters To Illegal Immigrants - 36 million illegal aliens perhaps?

IRS Caters To Illegal Immigrants

Illustrating a schizophrenic relationship between two major government agencies, a record number of illegal immigrants will file taxes with the Internal Revenue Service before next week’s deadline as they avoid a Homeland Security Department that supposedly strives to deport them.

The bizarre contradiction among two federal agencies sends mixed messages about the U.S. Government’s seriousness in enforcing its own laws, with one agency threatening to crack down on illegal aliens and the other actually accommodating the same violators.

About a decade ago the IRS created a special Individual Tax Identification Number (TIN) for “foreigners” who don’t qualify for a Social Security number but want to file taxes. The agency has so far issued 10.7 million TINs, including 1.5 million last year alone. Many illegal immigrants also use the numbers to apply for credit, open bank accounts and even buy houses.

The IRS knows well that millions of illegal immigrants use TINs to file taxes annually. In fact, a few years ago the tax agency discovered 7.9 million W-2 forms with names that didn’t match a Social Security number. Not surprisingly, the majority of the forms were filed in states with large illegal immigrant populations such as Texas, California and Florida.

This year tax preparers in several Border States are reporting a huge surge in the number of illegal aliens requiring tax filing services. One Phoenix Arizona company that caters to Hispanics is making a killing. The owner says that the majority of his 10,000 customers filing taxes are illegal immigrants without Social Security numbers.

In Atlanta one tax preparer has seen an equally large increase in illegal immigrants filing taxes to document residency and good morale character in case U.S. lawmakers approve an amnesty bill. In Los Angeles a once-struggling tiny tax preparation office in the inner city is now booming with illegal immigrants racing to beat next week’s filing deadline.

Illegal aliens across the country are openly speaking to the media about their newfound tax filings. Diggers Realm writes that illegal immigrants have learned that, since the IRS doesn’t cooperate with law enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security, they have little to fear.

All of the numbers from the Census Bureau are politicized - none of them can be trusted.

If The Gov't thinks it advantageous to underestimate the illegal population, then it will underestimate the illegal population

By contrast, one of the more interesting attempts to quantify the illegal presence is to count the number of duplicate FICA payments to the SSA [I believe that among the popular commentators, Neil Boortz is the one who has really been hammering home the importance of this approach].

The numbers I've heard are something like 9M duplicate payments on identical social security numbers, which would indicate AT LEAST 9M illegals in the "legitimate" economy.

I googled a little, and found this Judicial Watch article, which quotes 10M TIN's issued, and almost 8M known bad W2's:

http://www.corruptionchronicles.com/2007/04/irs_caters_to_illegal_immigran.html

Then the interesting question becomes: What percentage of illegals work in the legitimate economy, and what percentage work in the underground, cash-only economy [which makes no payments to the SSA - recall the failed Zoe Baird nomination].

Finally you ask yourself: Okay, what percentage of "illegals" are minor children? [And we'll throw their anchor babies into the pot, the legality of illegal anchor baby-ism still being largely undetermined at this point]. And that, in turn, begs the question: What percentage of adult illegals "work" in the first place? Surely some of them must stay at home to watch the kids - they can't all be in state-subsidized day care, can they?

Anyway, depending upon your assumptions, you could come up with all sorts of figures.

For instance:

1) Assume 9M adult illegals in the "legitimate" economy.

2) Assume 50% of adult illegals work the legitimate economy, and the other 50% either work the underground/cash-only economy, or else stay at home with the kids.

3) Assume a 1-1 ratio between adult illegals and their minor children.

Then that gets you to

(2 X [9M + 9M]) = 36 Million illegal aliens

which probably isn't that far off the actual number.

How about this?

Do you approve of the Bush/Kennedy immigration bill if it confers legal status on not 12 million but 36 million illegal immigrants. Plus the Bush/Kennedy immigration will allow Z VISA holders to bring in wives and children under Z2 and Z3 visas. Is this OK with you?

OR HOW ABOUT-—>>> Do you approve of the Bush/Kennedy immigration bill with the assumption that 12 million illegals can request legal status. Plus the half hearted enforcement measures I now see. If you were a US Senator would you vote for the present bill?

Thanks

No dennisw....I wouldn't vote for it in its present form based upon the large number of respected folks against it.

It reminds me of the Dubai Port Deal.

Furthermore anything that makes Ted Kennedy smile I am against. ;^)

Thanks much. You are (were) sort of liberal on (illegal immigration) like Hugh Hewitt was. You are probably like him. Hugh says the enforcement measures just ain’t there! We get some window dressing but no real enforcement or deportation for those illegal aliens who refuse to sign onboard or who come here tomorrow and conjure up backdated documents and proof of residence.

Like George Will and Hugh Hewitt who are moderates and don't see any real enforcement in store. Just amnesty and another one down the road that this one will encourage

Under Bush/Kennedy amnesty illegals will match themselves up with these SS contributions. Let's estimate that 50% of them will be rightfully claimed and that today's illegal aliens will get the money some day. Not Americans

So no free ride really! Plus illegals are mostly poor so just wait until they start gaming SS disability system once they get George Bush's amnesty

Well...realize that most 'thinking folks' obtain their positioins from direct experience. We are all a summary of our experiences.

My experiences dealing with the illegal immigrant are virtally all positive...unlike the unfortunate folks in So. California or the border towns/states.

As a small business I can appreciate how 'cause-effect' affects local economies.

Yes, the municipalities that absorb the majority of illegal immigrants become blue-collar...at least that's what happened in Montgomery County, Maryland. But, I am not aware of the disasterous consequences happening here.

Therefore, my position is that if it works in the Peoples Republic of Maryland, it could work everywhere else.

As a self-employed person who doesn't have any safety net like unemployment compensation...medical insurance benefitsm etc., I tip my hat to the man or woman who takes the risks to enter our country to better their life.

Everytime I go to Cancun, Mexico, I wish I could stay. There are a dozen or so Freepers that wished I would too. ;^)

You're right....we should have learned our lesson on the errors of the 1986 amnesty law.

Seems the RATS have us by the shorthairs on this..because the MSM is quick to point out how 'radical' conservatives feel about the illegal...soon to be DEM voters. ;^(

WOW! It startled me to see you refer to George Will as a moderate conservative...but I guess he's evolved.

I can say 'evolved' in this forum, can't I? ;^)

Steve Levy, the county executive of Suffolk (Long Island), a Democrat who understands the insanity of our immigration laws, was on a local TV show this weekend. He said that a government official, who would not allow his name to be used, told him Long Island has close to 200,000 illegals.

A small island, a dot on the map of this country. Do the math

Newsday is all over his case about illegal immigration, so you just know he’s right.

Yes,

I don't know the details, may have read it on your informative thread a few days ago, but illegals will be eligible for benefits under the proposed bill.
Some benefits with less work time than citizens.

Our fearless leaders tell us that they want to give amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens. What happens to the rest of them???? Not one of them mentions that.

The Mexicans have figured out how to screw America in every way possible. Not that they're so smart, our own government helps them do it. Says a lot about how much our own government cares about American citizens - NOTHING!

Hey....welcome back!

There are over 10 million in Texas also. I think the number may be over 50 million. 10 million per year have been coming in for the 5 years they have been using the 12 million figure.

“In any case, those 12 mil figures are bs, and they know it.”

Your right, several years ago before all this immigration reform stuff got hot, the MSM was using an 18 to 20 million illegal figure in their reporting.

When the immigration debate became hot and on the forefront, I noticed the media began to dumb down the 18-20 million illegal figure to 10-12 million.

The MSM has been complicit in the attempt to legalize millions of illegals by dumbing down the numbers by 8 million or so to make Amnesty a bit more palatable to the average joe-six pack.

Shameful socialist!
