Point taken....but do you really think that this will change anything?
The People in DC has known for a long time that the people in the real world dont like this mexican invasion , but still they vote for it. They know that the Majority of Americans dont like what they are doin in General in DC, but they still keep doing in regardless of what we think because they know in the ,long run, people will vote for them under the guise of the lesser of two evils.
I love this country. I joined the service to defend this country. But this isnt the same country that Ronald Reagan gave us. It has been taken over by people who only interest is getting releected, with no regard as to how they do it.
Honestly, how many people think that we can make a difference anymore. GWB has betrayed the GOP and America to the point that I am totally disgusted with the whole process. I am tired of pulling a lever for a canditate that is the lesser of two evils because the Other person is so far to the left that Stalin would be proud.
Politicans dont care.....unless you are a Minority or a special interest group.
How many people deep down think that this will make a difference? be honest...

I do. I think he is one of the greatest presidents we have had. With me freedom is top priority I judge everything on how it will affect my freedom.

Your freedom is about to go out the window. Bush is good on some issues, but on immigration he sucks big time and is trying to give away the country to Mexico. Read this bill and tell me it doesn't curtail your freedom and make you a second class citizen compared to an illegal alien who will get their Z visa.

>>”I judge everything on how it will affect my freedom.”

Then you need to understand that your freedom only exists because of the REAL “rule of law” that exists in the US. If the illegal immigrant amnesty passes, that rule of law will be irreversibly damaged.<<

Well said Warthog. I would add that this makes me wonder if Bush is really sincere about pro-life, terrorists, and taxes, because passing this bill would endanger whatever progress we have made on those principles.

Also, the resulting voter backlash would make this happen before the illegals began to vote. Many “partial RINOs” who have voted for some conservative positions will be thrown out by outraged former supporters, and in many cases the “greater of two evils” will win in a 2008 election bloodbath. Bush’s poll numbers were already approaching zero before this foolish adventure.

Amnesty is a win for the radical left on many levels.

Excellent article. Mexico is a terrible example of elitist rule at the expense of its citizenry. However, I do not believe that motivation on the part of Republicans is to establish a more pacifist populace (I believe that true for democrats). I do agree that politicians currently in power do not want these new voters to perceive them negatively (big time pandering).

The burden they place on our services may exceed the taxes they pay, but they provide an enormous financial benefit that is very difficult to quantify. For example . . . I would make the case that real estate values in this country would collapse if all of our illegal aliens were to disappear tomorrow.

Real estate values in this country would NOT collapse if every illegal left tomorrow. They DO NOT give this country any financial benefit. Anyone who can read that report and still make excuses and try to say we gain more than we lose with these illegal scum bags, and that is what they are: Law breaking scum bags , is beyond hope. Your brain, sir, is completely gone.

>>Bush is worse than Carter, just treasonus in a different way.

Lets not get carried away here!!!<<

ontap, think about this. Long gas lines and high interest rates under Carter were infuriating, but the nation recovered. If this amnesty passes, can we recover? If 20 or 30 million get legal status and social benefits, can we recover?

It has nothing to do with minimum wage laws. It is a matter of supply and demand. If you increase the supply of cheap labor, you keep the cost of such labor low. As an example, if you needed to pay $12 an hour to maintain the required workforce, with an increase in supply of such labor, you may just need to spend $10 an hour to field the same labor.

Yes, what you describe here happened just that way during the depression when jobs were not plentiful but labor was. It is all to do with supply and demand. Plus, we will have many more illegals streaming across our borders hoping for a new amensty and they will drive the wages even lower.

Alberta's child said:...illegal aliens can actually command pretty high cash wages where I live...

philman said: That kind of blows a hole in the "low wage workers" argument doesn't it.

No, it doesn't. You notice he said "cash" wages. An employer can pay cash under the table and pay a lot more in wages to an illegal than he can a legal worker and still come out ahead. For example if I pay someone 15 bucks an hour, they will be lucky to see 10 of that, so if I pay an illegal 12 bucks under the table I have saved 3 bucks per worker not to mention , insurance, workers comp etc. that I didn't have to pay and the illegal comes out with more cash than the legal worker that gets paid 15.

A shit load of people on FR think it will make a difference. If you don't tough sh**. What a defeatists attitude. Keep calling, keep writing and we will make a differnce, hell we have already made a difference, why do you think Bush is pushing so hard with his lies and deceptions about this bill, he knows the senate is getting swamped and he is getting swamped with peoples comments telling them to stick this bill where the sun don't shine. If weren't making a difference we wouldn't have chertoff telling us we are a bunch of biggoted asshats for not wanting all these illegal scum bags in our country.

You can tell how much we are affecting the senators by the screams they are emmitting.

I’ve been saying Bush sucks... Anyone doubt me now?

No doubt here.

This stammering little man wants desperatly to abolish the USA in favor of his dreamed of merged state with Mexico. When he signs his 3rd-world migration explosion act, he'll easily vault past Carter to Worst President in History status. Carter damaged the nation. Bush Jr. will effectively end it.

Can someone give me an honest and accurate reason for why Bush is pushing this amnesty bill so hard.

He believes in one world government. He admires the system of government in Mexico where very few people control the wealth and power. This bill will all but destroy America, usher in the New World Order, and make America function like Mexico.

In other words, everything that you see as a negative, he sees as a positive. His actions only seem inconceivable to you because you don't understand his objectives.

In the past, I would have been loath to believe that of Republicans as well. Today however, I'm not so sure.

The elites in this country have suckled at the public teat for so long, they're addicted. I mean think of the kind of power they wield, and the ever increasing control they have over our lives. They live in their own little world, a world that is increasingly more different from the one in which you and I reside.

The NWO, the N. American Union..., not to get all tinfoily or anything, but think about what is going on essentially behind our backs. TTC, Mexico to Canada highways, Mexican truckers on our roads, mexican counselor ID for illegals. All the $#!t that is going on, and it is being done, for the most part, in secret, and with complete contempt of the will of the people. How else can you explain Bush's complete and total disregard for the country's wishes on illegal immigration, and the complete and total disregard of our borders post 9/11?!

It doesn't make a lick of sense until you factor in the point of that article. Then things start becoming real clear.

I don't know... but one thing I do know, something is afoot. And I don't like it.

You've got inner-city areas of this country that would be nearly 100% de-populated without a massive flow of immigrants -- legal and illegal -- into them. This is the real reason why most big cities have some form of "sanctuary city" policy in place these days.

Anyone who can read that report and still make excuses and try to say we gain more than we lose with these illegal scum bags, and that is what they are: Law breaking scum bags , is beyond hope. Your brain, sir, is completely gone.

I'm making no excuses for anyone at all -- I'm simply pointing out the underlying economic reality that's driving this whole issue. I'm totally in favor of putting an end to all illegal immigration, no matter what it takes.

With that in mind, I'll overlook your last comment.

If by white Europe culture you mean ANGLO, you are generally correct. A white European culture prevails among the ruling class of Mexico. The problem lies in the antipathy of this ruling class to anything like our political culture, where the ruling class is much broader. In this we are like the English ruling class where the aristocracy was willing to marriage into the monied classes and professional classes. But we are even more so.

Bur as a for revolution, the Mexicans tried this in 1910 and we know the result.

We are a Republic below you. I would simply like this issue to be decided during an election year with all Reps and Senators justifying their stand to the people that elected them. I will live with the result. Cry-me-a-river sob stories do not apply. This is serious. I want the citizens of the U.S. to decide their future during the next election. That’s all I want.

If you believe as I do that Jimmie Carter is responsible for the deposing of the Shah of Iran and the ascent of the Islamic fascist It ain’t even close. I doubt Carters take on immigration would be palatable to any of us. Jimmie Carter was inept in so many ways that one has to create an entirely new category for him.
