What is Fred's business and executive background? Has he ever led or directed a large group of people to achieve a goal?

He has great political values and excellent personal presence. Where and when has he demonstrated leadership over anything larger than a small staff?

In the executive experience department he looks a lot like Hillary or Obama. That's a weakness that he will have to address.

I'd like to see the Big Three and Fred Thompson and Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter. Winnow the field to six.

Because I see Sam Brownback and Mike Huckabee as "twin" candidates, I think one dropping out would boost the other for a while. I can see a drop to seven candidates during the summer. Getting down to six will take longer. The Iowa straw poll is often the first cut. Strangely enough, Tommy Thompson is making some progress in Iowa. If he does well, he'll keep fighting in spite of the obvious reasons why he shouldn't. Otherwise, the straw poll may give you the outcome that you'd like. Some candidates who do very poorly in Iowa will have to assume that their candidacies are never going to draw any support. Ron Paul must also know that he will not win the nomination. He needs to drop out of the race so that his supporters can look for other candidates.

Perhaps that is because of the people who repeatedly come on with a list of “questions” about Thompson when they already know the answers.

I love answering sincere questions, but they are few and far between. Mostly it’s “You are stupid, you only like him because he’s an actor, you haven’t done any research.”

We are mostly really sick of it.

Those things may be true, but the supporters of other candidates have also seen a great deal of stupidity and negativity towards their candidates. The Romney supporters have had to deal with dozens of the "Mormons believe they are gods on their way to another planet" threads. They get the full range "flip flop" accusations on all kinds of issues. I'm a Duncan Hunter supporter, and I get thoroughly tired of the "he can't win" posts or the "isolationist" posts.

We need to look at all of these strengths and weaknesses in all of the candidates. The questions don't go away just because we're tired of dealing with them. To the extent that the supporters of one candidate seem more likely to lead with an insult when someone says something that they don't like, those individuals who lead with an insult may be driving support from their candidate. I don't remember your doing anything of that nature, so I'm not accusing you personally.

I don’t believe most Thompson supporters are going onto other candidates’ threads except for basic information. We are too busy trying to keep up on Fred information. I would NEVER go onto another candidate’s thread and post Fred graphics, but that happens all the time on Thompson threads.

People, mainly Hunter supporters, are constantly on Thompson threads harassing Thompson supporters.

I don’t object to debate, but these people post the SAME posts over and over, regardless of how often they are told their information is WRONG. I object vehemently to people telling me that I am only for Thompson because he’s an actor. I could give a flying fig whether he’s an actor. I am for him because of my in-depth examination of his record, and so are almost all of the others around here.

What you are seeing is disgust at the nasty tactics being used by others. I won’t apologize for striking back at people who are being dishonest and disingenuous.

I don't blame you for objecting to someone trying to tell you why you support a candidate.

I do blame those who attack fellow Freepers who express a preference for one candidate over another candidate because that Freeper thinks that executive experience makes a candidate more qualified for an executive job.

On most of the Hunter threads that I've seen, people say that they'd like to see Fred Thompson as the candidate if Duncan Hunter isn't nominated. I'll look more closely to see who is making these attacks against Mr. Thompson and his supporters. Hunter supporters who don't like Fred Thompson would be a minority among the Hunter supporters that I know.
