Blackburn endorses Fred Thompson By Bartholomew Sullivan sullivanb@shns.com May 25, 2007
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee co-chair of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's presidential campaign and a national co-chair of Women for Romney, on Friday endorsed former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson.
A Blackburn spokesman said in April that Blackburn would reassess her commitment to Romney -- "cross that bridge" -- when and if Thompson decided to run. But on Friday morning, the Draft Fred Thompson 2008 committee, released a statement quoting Blackburn.
"Our nation faces challenging times that requires (sic) vision and leadership. I know Fred Thompson is the right leader for these times," it said. "I sincerely hope that Fred Thompson will choose to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. He has my wholehearted support and I encourage my fellow Tennesseans and Americans to stand with us."
Blackburn's press secretary did not respond to requests for further comment except to say by email that Blackburn was out of the country on with a congressional delegation to Copenhagen, Berlin, Brussels and London to study global warming. Blackburn's district includes parts of eastern Shelby County.
Romney spokesman Gail Gitcho said Blackburn called Romney to tell him of her decision to back Thompson "should he decide to run," and said the campaign wishes her well.
whoa! Romney cannot be too thrilled.
I’m guessing a few endorsers in tennessee will jump ship when Fred announces.
Look for many more to dump the McCain, Guiliani and Romney campaigns for a real winner.

This is hugh! No, I’m serial!
Which will send Romney back down in the polls after his recent resurgence, in perfect time to become Fred’s Veep.
Great!
That being said she is from Tennessee and she probably knows Fred really well, so it is not a huge shock.
I am not from Tennessee, please inform me of Fred Thompson’s REAL record while in the Senate (hey if you do, you all may gain a real suppoter in me)!
Click on the link in #10 above.
But I thought he’s entering too late, can’t get the people, can’t get the money, has no “fire in the belly”, and he might have even jaywalked once!

If the “amnesty” bill becomes law, will it really matter who is President?
Not with the Fred Express on the way! LOL! :-)
