Leaders in Longmont Try to Explain What Happened
LONGMONT -- Officials in the city of Longmont are trying to explain how an illegal immigrant got master keys to some of the citys secure buildings, including the police department building.
The Longmont Daily Times-Call reports that police arrested the man earlier this week outside of a building. Investigators say he lied to them about his identity.
But officers said they recognized him, because they say he was part of the crew that had just cleaned the police department building.
Investigators say Jesus Orrantia, 23, is an illegal immigrant from Mexico, and he had master keys that allowed full access to the Longmont Police Department.
He also had access to the Civic Center and other secure public buildings.
The report says a Denver-based cleaning company called Kleen-Tech Services Corporation has a contract with the city of Longmont to do cleaning and janitorial work at several buildings.
Investigators say Orrantia works for Kleen-Tech and is assigned to clean several Longmont city buildings.
State law prohibits illegal immigrants from working for governments or companies working on government contracts. Employers are required to verify their employees eligibility to work before hiring them.
The questions many are now asking: how was Orrantia able to get employment with a government contractor, and get such access to secure buildings?
And some people say there isn’t a problem.
Simple, no background check was done and there is no penalty for not doing one.
Shortly there won't be a problem as with the stroke of a pen they will be illegal..poof, no problem.
"Jorge's current responsibilities include directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of all regions to include hiring and firing employees and ensuring adequate supply inventories. He directs all the Colorado Supervisors and Project Manager's activities to include scheduling, training, ensuring quality control, and maintaining contact with suppliers and customers. Jorge takes an active role in planning and developing organizational policies and goals, including safety meetings and extensive training courses."
"Jorge's personal favorite motto is 'failure is not an option'."
Don’t anti-discrimination laws prohibit asking members of a minority group about their immigration status?
What’s the surprise? We are overrun with illegals here in Longmont and all of Northern Colorado. They line up on the sidewalk at the government buildings here to get their freebies and the government won’t admit that they’re handing out taxpayer money to them.
ping
The bigger question is, how many copies of the keys have been handed out?

After non-Amnesty Amnesty, this will no longer be a problem. *cough* Blackbird.
