If that is fiscally responsible, you’d love Hillary.
Mitt Romney’s campaign in the South is over, after he made negative comments about the Confederate flag. Fred Thompson won’t do much better.
I see many so-called conservatives are hard at work trying to castrate our leaders. I know our military would really appreciate their sentiments(not).
OK?
“I see many so-called conservatives are hard at work trying to castrate our leaders.”
The draft dodging Romney is not one of our leaders, he was a ONE term governor of Massachusetts that serves in no office today. He is simply a citizen that veterans and conservatives are not fond of, that is why he is only drawing 11% support here on FR.
A bunch of hooey.
Romney is a recent convert — probably conversions of political expediency — to conservative positions on life, guns, borders, everything.
Last week he stated that he SUPPORTS the gay agenda at the state level. His term in office proved that.
He’s a fraud and a danger to this country.
If you have to lie to make your point maybe your point is not true.
Couldn't have said it better myself...
Camenker has been documented as lying if you actually read the article. If he "mispoke" why hasn't he corrected it.
If he is a good man perhaps you could tell us why he allowed his article to be published on the DNC website for about 6 months around the time Romney declared. He can easily distance himself from the DNC with a simple statement saying it was wrong to help the DNC. I don't trust "conservatives" who use the DNC to get their message out.
He criticisez Romney for voting for a "pro gay and pro abortion" Democrats yet he has done the same.
I voted for John Anderson for president and Michael Dukakis for governor." Brian Camenker
So when did he flip flop? He can't even pass his own litmus test.
He voted for Dukakis in the 70's, as did I...then we grew up... That is Romney's modus operendi, to say that someone is lying, instead of refuting the allegations. Camenker is a pro-life, pro-family activist. He is not running for any political office as a conservative.

He published this info through his own group's website, www.massresistance.com and several other conservative groups and individuals (bloggers) across Massachusetts and the country picked the info up. The information paints a very negative picture of a Republican running for president so it isn't terribly surprising that the DNC would pick it up (we were happy that Zell Miller, a Democrat, was on our side in 2004, weren't we?)

Wasn't John Anderson running as an independent? And as I said, many of us voted Democrat in the 70s but realized the errors of our ways (did you always vote Republican?). Romney was voting for Democrats as late as 1992 (Paul Tsongas)...
that is exactly what he is too, A Fake Conservative

Over the last two weeks, some focus has come down to Rudy and Romney. I thought both would make good Presidents. Mitt, however, has shown that he will fight in every state, while Rudy played a bit of rope-a-dope, lost the repeticious, tired 9/11 broken-record gamble. Until he dropped out with ONE deligate and threw his support to McCain, I thought Rudy might have had the right idea, but Rudy is liberal. I saw him on the Leno Show telling fibs through his teeth about being “conservative”. McCain also chimed in with the “I’m a conservative” crock ‘o’ dung.
Rudy Gooolie and McCain BOTH think they are “conservative” because they both TURN OFF THE WATER AFTER A SHOWER apparently. Rudy was for abortion, gun control, and a host of LIBERAL CAUSES.
Romney is not a perfect candidate. We dont have any perfect candidates. In fact, I could still support Mike Huckabee without reservation in a general election against either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. I think, though, that Romney has the most staying power, the better argument, and the best resume of the remaining Republican candidates. I will enthusiastically talk up Mitt Romney on February 5th.
Then we see former Thompsonites coming into the Romney fold, most notably Liz Cheney
ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) Vice President Dick Cheneys daughter Elizabeth Cheney is joining Mitt Romneys presidential bid, his campaign announced Sunday.
She previously stumped for former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee who dropped out of the race last week.
In a statement released by Romneys campaign, Cheney said the former Massachusetts governor has distinguished himself as a leader who can guide our country with a clear vision for overcoming the threats we face today.
And then this morning Im watching the McLaughlin group today and its Romney, Romney, Romney. Nobody is behind McCain. Its truly amazing to see the Republican chattering class rally like this, but there it is nonetheless.
And sure, McCain is securing some good endorsements, but the institution as a whole is getting behind Romney because they think he can be a change agent, whereas McCain cant. They think hes effectively taken this message away from Obama, and I guess well see if theyre right in the coming weeks.
President Reagan give us ONE good Supreme Court Judge and TWO terrible Supreme Court judges. Bush has given us TWO good Supreme Court judges.
Ronald Reagan gave us AMNESTY FOR ALL ILLEGALS IN 1986. Bush tried to do the same and failed. Perhaps he'd have succeeded if he called it AMNESTY, like Ronald Reagan did. Reagan was honest about what he did here. Bush and McCain lied repeatedly about their bill not being amnesty.
Ronald Reagan cut-and-ran from Lebanon after the terrorists killed over 250 of our bravest.
Ronald Reagan RAISED the corporate SS tax rate. George Bush got us tax CUTS.
Pull your head out of your a-hole for once and actually put these things into proper perspective.
RONALD MAGNUS REAGAN WAS A RINO ON A NUMBER OF ISSUES TOO. Unless you consider amnesty, raising taxes and judges who ignore and invent new meanings in the Constitution to be some Conserrvative values. McCain, is that you?
But thank God all you Reagan worshippers are here to straighten us out on what a Conservative is.
SO ALL YOU SINGLE ISSUE HUCKLEBEE VOTERS, TELL ME WHY THE HELL I SHOULD BELIEVE MCCAIN OR HUCKLEBEE WILL BE BETTER THAN BUSH ON JUDGES? You all seem to worship the ground Reagan walked upon, but for some reason cannot bring yourselves to realize that Reagan was FAR from an ideal Conservative when it came to judges. Especially since ABORTION is the ONLY issue that you all seem to care about.
I have not drunk the liberal rino kool-aid.
Romney is not a conservative. McCain is not a conservative. Huckabee is not a conservative.
All of this can be backed up by the statements of each of those nominees.
At this point, the most conservative candidate in the race is Ron Paul, yet I detest his isolationist plank. (Historically, reality eventually forces isolationists to see the light.)
I agree with Ann Coulter that an exercise in outrageous voting is in order. The problem with her “Hillary” strategy is that NO ONE will be able to distinguish her vote from any other cast in this nation. Therefore, Ann’s message of “outrage” will be lost.
I agree with JR that a locked convention would be an interesting thing with the potential to bring about a conservative candidate. This however will not happen, because either McCain or Huckabee will win Texas. Romney will win someplace.
A brokered convention will deal with the reality of a combination of any of these two candidates having sufficient delegates to go over the 1191 magic number. In other words, a McCain/Huck or a McCain/Romney ticket will achieve the magic 1191. I would imagine that McCain would pick Romney to (1) get his money, and (2) bring the party together. (Isn’t that a joke — bringing it together by putting 2 rinos on the ticket!) Both Huck and Romney are young enough to realize that they can be president another day, and that VPs invariably end up as party nominees some day.
Ann’s strategy is flawed. Jim’s strategy, while appealing is flawed.
How to make a COUNTABLE statement?
In the primaries, it would be best to have a significant number of conservatives — those who realize that there are now 3 rinos remaining — vote for Ron Paul. This will signal the strength of this group and whether or not they can ruin the Pubbies in the fall election. If they have the numerical strength to bring down the Republicans, perhaps they’ll agree that a real conservative VP on the ticket in the fall will be in the best interest of their winning.
In the general if there is no conservative VP: vote Constition Party. Again, these extra votes can be counted, and the pubbies will know what they threw away.
It is better — if the country is to be given into the hands of socialism — that it be ruined by liberals than by pretend conservatives.
I will unjoin the Repub party as soon as the Ohio Primary is over on 4 March. I will then join the Constitution Party. This is a slight change to earlier anger, but it makes more sense.
I’ll cast my Ohio ballot for Ron Paul.
When he ran a couple of years ago, I also voted for McClintock for California Governor as I saw Schwarzneggar as the liberal that he is.
I believe I'll be joining you in the Constitution Party.
I don’t think Hunter will be on our ballot in Ohio. He dropped out far enough in the past that he probably preceded the printing of the ballot.
To make a statement, it’s best to rally behind a name on the ballot. It’s easier to get people to just check that box than it is to get them to write in a name.
You’re probably right. I’ve never written a name in and would feel a little strange doing it.
