When did these poisonings supposedly start? About four months ago? I suspect it goes back farther than that. Do you know?
Menu Foods found their own “test” animals dying. About 7 out of 50 animals in a two week period. This happened about four weeks -before- they bothered to tell anyone via their official recall. Menu Foods stated that they believed they had changed wheat gluten suppliers around January 2007 IIRC.
Public reports of pets with kidney dysfunction started being reported in late February or early March.
There -has- been discussion that contaminated wheat gluten may have been imported by Chem-Nutra in late 2006 and sold to pet food companies other than Menu Foods.
Overall four months ago is the best information available at this time.
