Thanks for the post.

If I’m not mistaken, Diamond also manufacturers Costco’s
Kirkland brand. Their lamb and rice canned food, which I use to flavor the dry food, was recalled...but not before my dog was very ill, and passed stones over a several week period. This all happened just prior to the news starting to dribble out about a few cans of wet cat food. The dog only got a couple of tablespoons a day and she’s 70 lbs. Could have been bad dry food too.

I have a sad update for my kitty...

I took her in this morning to check her weight and told the vet she was a little more perky, but was still vomiting and now wheezing and having a hard time breathing. They did an x-ray... and discovered she has lung cancer. So, until its 'time', she will be treated like the queen she is.

Please pray for my sweet baby girl, and that her pain is eased before she makes the trip to the Rainbow Bridge.

I’m so sorry.
Since I lost my cat to lymphoma last month, I’d like to ask if your vet thinks that there’s any correlation to the pet food?

He thinks the kidney issues could be related to the food recall, but not the cancer.

I’m just wondering if vets are keeping track of any increase in cancers. They may not think there’s a correlation now, but looking back over a year or so, they may think differently.

I’m so sorry about your kitty.

That’s a great point. I know Hills is keeping track of sick kitties since they are paying $100 of vet bills per cat affected.

I’m so sorry. :-(

I know she will feel loved for the rest of her days. I hope her discomfort is lessened so her passing is eased for both of you.

In another era, it would’ve been an act of war to send poison over to be used in another country’s food supply. How do we know this isn’t an attack?

My dog was an extremely healthy Australian Shepherd named Tucker. At the end of April she got extremely sick, and was diagnosed with acute renal failure. Within 3 weeks of diagnosis, including 1 week at the UGA college of Veterinary Medicine ICU, we had to put her down on May 25th.

I have another dog, that lived with her in the same environment, same treats, etc. The only difference is that we fed Tucker IAMS WEIGHT CONTROL dry food (the blue bag) vs. the mini nuggets the other one eats.

IAMS keeps insisting that there is nothing wrong with the dry food, but asked for a sample to analyze(we do not have the original bag because we put the food in containers so the ants don’t invade the food). We are also having an autopsy done on her kidneys. Does anyone know of a place to find an independent lab to analyze the food?

Iams used to be a very high-quality food until some years ago when it was bought out. I think my vet informed me of this and I stopped using the brand at that time. I switched to Nutro and was unhappy to learn that it was processed in the same plant as Iams but still cost more. After the pet food scare, I switched to CANIDAE - recommended by a Freeper — quality food made in the U.S.A. and the dogs LOVE IT!

I had to buy some Pedigree wet food recently because I was visiting my folks and didn’t bring enough food with me...One meal of pedigree wet and my dog had bloody diarrhea for two days and I had a $300 vet bill. It was probably my own fault for suddenly switching the food for just one meal but I’d be careful with that brand of food!

I had to put my dog down very suddently due to cancer in January. He was only seven and healthy before he suddenly stopped eating one day. He was on Nutro for years. I sometimes wonder whether his food might have had something to do with it.
