Any idea why he calls it the “Kennedy-Kyl” bill rather than the “Kennedy-McCain” bill?

I loved the line about 'goober peas from China..'
Boiled peanuts are the single element of southern cooking (because I don't consider cheese and mac to be 'southern') I'll never adapt to.

However, and note that I support the president and voted for him twice, I did NOT sit out the last elections...etc..etc:

So far as I can tell, the only thing in this proposed bill that GWB is not preordained to support lovingly is the period of time needed to fully legitimize today's illegals: he'd rather see it done overnight.

This is being presented as a democrat bill but in my opinion it is everything (almost) that our republican president wants.

Please try to avoid insults and eternal ostracism, but I'd really like to have someone detail what in this proposal has NOT been telegraphed in advance by President Bush.

Thanks.

(Hint: I tend to think of this thing as "Vincente's Revenge" since Fox isn't around to suck up the credit.)

If Kennedy is involved there is something fishy going on.

“...yokels wear shoes now...” Not only that, but some of us can feed ourselves. It occurs to me more and more that those in Washington are merely parasites. They feed themselves by sucking at the public teat. Their world is so far removed brom ours they could never have a clue.

Although I always voted Republican, (no longer) I couldn’t tell you how unerving it was to have it reported that Bush didn’t know what a bar code was when taking a tour of a grocery store. Wonder if he knows what the term, 10-20-10 means? Or, 13-13-13?

Karl Rove is sincerely seduced by the idea that he can make Christians of Muslims (in a manner of speaking) and Republicans of poor Mexicans, but he must have been smoking something stronger than Lucky Strikes to imagine he can inspire the yokels with immigration legislation with Teddy Kennedy's name on it.

A little tarnish on Karl's shiny armor!

Today is a different day in Washington," Mr. Chambliss told his constituents. "Republicans are not in control. We could either sit on the sidelines and we could throw rocks, or we could become engaged and make what we knew was a bad bill, better."

A. Jorge Boosh could veto. Republicans aren't in control but neither are Democrats (supposedly).

B. They had 4 years to get stuff done, but the Frist-Boosh cabal prevented any conservative measures from being passed.

Time to send more of these:

Very disappointing to see this after Club For Growth and other conservative organizations supported Kyl's re-election in '06.

Why can't we close the border and enforce employer sanctions before we do anything else (like the Zamnesty)?

Incumbent senators like Kyl and Kennedy and McStain and the others are exactly the persons most responsible for this crisis of invasion, lawlessness, the destroying of schools and hospitals and spiraling costs in welfare. Now they want to "fix" it by just legalizing their own mess and the wanton neglect that endangers us all.

Destroying the economy and bringing in hordes of illiterate Third Worlders is not a solution to anything.

[.. and the politicians get a nigh-inexhaustible supply of exploitable new voters satisfied with a few tossed bones, promises and a bankrupt welfare state. ..]

Amazing that the most important fact is missed in this sentence.. "DEMOCRAT VOTER"..

It’s going to be a race as to whether the country ends up speaking Spanish or Arabic.

Maybe speaking Spanish while facing Mecca five times a day.

We could either sit on the sidelines and we could throw rocks, or we could become engaged and make what we knew was a bad bill, better.

The classic reasoning of the collaborator. There is a strong element of the Republican party that revels in minority status, they love not having to be in control and risking confrontation with the media-based establishment. All they have to do to ensure their continued place at the trough is take care of big business and con the rubes who are their voters. That's what Chambliss means by "better" in the quote above.

Mexico has never been a friend of our United States.

Based on old pesos!

The looters of Mexico want to have the freedom to loot America.

After spending several years starting oil exploration crews for Pemex, I think I have The reason Mexico has become so bad.

I like the Mexican people in the fly over parts of Mexico. The mid level and workers of Pemex are good. It is the government and the high up in Pemex that are the vultures and looters. The peso was about 8 cents (12.5 to a dollar). When Pemex found the sito grande, a very large oil pool that covers parts of the states of Chiapas and Tabasco also a long ways into the Gulf of Mexico.

Pemex borrowed billions to produce this great oil find. The looters (government) stole most of the money and what they did buy was junk oil rigs and drill pipe, etc. 1,000 pesos which was worth about $80 now will not buy a coke (old pesos). This was due to the looters stealing billions from the Mexican people.

Instead of overthrowing the looters the Mexican people had an out, they had no weapons and they could cross into America and have a much safer life. This hurts both Mexico and America as Mexico lost some of it’s hardest workers. The gangbangers and welfare frauds also came over from Mexico as they could rape and pillage at will.

The government of Mexico is propped up by the billions sent back by the illegals and by our government having borders that are too open.

The only chance I see to help America and Mexico is to seal the border, deport the people who are not here legally. We also need to arm the Mexican people so they can have a chance against the looters with their armies.

CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty
