Does McCain have the temperament to be President? Powerline goes behind the scenes to piece together John McCain's breakdown of profanity the other day, if you're interested in such things. I'm not sure that dropping the "F Bomb" is particularly newsworthy, except that--as Powerline notes--McCain defended his reputation as a hothead on Fox News Sunday, "saying he loses his temper only when he sees corruption and wasteful spending. This incident involved neither. It was instead a simple policy dispute, where he didnt want to debate how his legislation would actually work."
Senator McCain has been largely missing from the Senate since late March, when it became apparent his fundraising operation was seriously lagging. Senator McCain hasnt made a Senate vote in the past five weeks. But he wanted to be front and center when the immigration bargain was announced, and Kennedy and Specter did everything they could to accommodate him. They reserved the Senate press gallery room for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, just in time for Senator McCain to attend before heading out to New York for more fundraising.
A minor problem arose. Bush administration negotiators and a bipartisan Senate group had been meeting several days a week since February, often with glacial progress. (McCain rarely attended, though his staff was there.) As of Thursday morning, however, agreement hadnt been reached. A final meeting started at 10 a.m. in hopes of finishing the deal. With a dozen Senators, two Cabinet members (Chertoff and Gutierrez) and perhaps 15 staffers in the room discussing an unpublished documents exceeding 300 pages in length, it was slow going. Senator Cornyn, tacitly supported by Sen. Jon Kyl, pushed hard to streamline legal procedures to allow prompt deportation of illegals. Senator Kennedy resisted.
As the clock moved closer to 1:30 p.m., Senator McCain suddenly lost it. "This is chickensh*t," he told Senator Cornyn. "I think it would expedite things if you would just leave the room, Senator, so we can get along with finishing this up." Senator Cornyn responded: "Wait a minute. Weve been meeting for three months on this in good faith, and now you parachute in here this morning and tell me to leave? I think youre out of line."
Senator McCain responded: "F*** you! I know what is going on here. I know more about immigration than anybody in this room! Other Senators moved in to calm things down, and the talks went on. Senator Cornyns provision was not included. At 1:30 p.m. sharp, the conferees (not including Senators Cornyn or Menendez and a few other negotiators) were in the press gallery, congratulating each other. Senator Kennedy recognized Senator McCain early to make his televised comments, then Senator McCain departed before the press conference was over for a flight to New York City. Later that afternoon, he missed yet another Senate vote - this one on the Democrats' $2.9 trillion budget plan, an outline for the largest tax increase in U.S. history.
Did you see how "The Corner" was cracking jokes about how Gov. Romney says "Golly" a great deal? They called him a "gollygamist"--which, comparatively, seems wonderfully restrained.
Anyway, I thought the last paragraph was laugh out loud funny so, I decided to post it.

Giuliani will be on Letterman in about 10 minutes (except West Coast). Just in case anyone wants to watch... I’m sure Letterman will be sucking up to him, big time.
After this week, can any conservative back John McCain? This guy would be better off at this point running for the Democrap Vice Presidency !!!
Yes, Gov. Romney is a Mormon. We are not. According to the liberal media, this is an unbridgeable gap, and evangelicals will never turn out to support a faithful Mormon like Governor Romney. As usual, the media have it wrong. And they root their error (as usual) in a fundamental misunderstanding about American evangelicalsseeing us as ignorant and intolerant simpletons who are incapable of making sophisticated political value judgments.
To be perfectly clear, we believe Governor Romney is not only acceptable to conservative Christians, but that he is clearly the best choice for people of faith.
Well, they're crazy if they think that true Evangelicals are going to go for a Mormon, who adheres to the teachings of a relgious cult, by definition of the Christian faith.
This is nothing but political and religious deception to ever think that they are going to get legitimate Evangelicals to vote for a cult group member.

Well Gollyyy!
There are exactly six (6) members of Evangelical for Mitt.
I’m sure their 6 votes are going to push him to the top!

It's odd that members of a vile cult would do this, don't you think?
And yet Mormons freely and enthusiastically support evangelical candidates. Why? Because Mormons judge candidates by their hearts, by their decency, by their commitment to traditional families, and by whether they live godly lives.
Well, Mormons might be supporting Evangelical candidates because they try so desperately to be Evangelical while the Christian Evangelicals won't accept them into the true Christian faith, because Mormons don't have true Christian doctrines.
Another reason why Mormons might support Evangelical candidates, especially on the national level, for sure..., is that they couldn't ever get their own cadidates in there. And I think Mitt Romney is going to be a showcase for how true that's going to be nationally, too. You wait and see how that turns out.
It's odd that members of a vile cult would do this, don't you think?
While the individual Mormons may be normal and law-abiding people (in the same percentages, at least as the general population), they are certainly a "vile cult" when it comes to Christianity, itself, and in regards to the true Salvation offered by Jesus, the Messiah of Israel. In that sense, they certainly are, for going totally and completely against Christian doctrines.
And that's why no true Christian Evangelical is ever going to vote for Mitt Romney. If they do, I would immediately question whether that person is even a Christian at all.

How does one draw clean water from a foul well?
$3 Trillion Dollars. Good grief.
Put another way, $10,000 dollars per year Taxed away, every year, from every American Citizen -- every single man, woman, child, and baby -- to support a Federal Government which spends MOST of its ill-gotten gains on Debt-service and Social Welfare (even if you actually support Nation-Building in the Irrational Middle East, "Defense Spending" is but a fraction of the insanely out-of-control Federal Budget, anymore). And that doesn't even count State and Local Government Spending.
I don't know about y'all, but to me, $10,000 per year is still a chunk of change!
In order to make back some of the cash I'll be sending to the Feds next year, I think I'll be offering Odds in the Smoky Backroom that the "Taxpayer's Best Friend", the Honorable Congressman Ron Paul will be voting against this obscene Abomination. I'll even offer 5-to-1 payout. Any takers?
I think I'll even take side bets on whether or not our "Conservative" President, George W. Bush, will sign the Democrat Budget. I'll offer 3-to-2 payout that our so-called "Conservative" President will sign on to any Democrat Budget which spends at least $2.7 Trillion Dollars or more; i.e., at least $9,000 dollars per year, per American Citizen ("Compassionate Conservatism" means "we'll be 'compassionate' with your money). Any Takers?
There are exactly six (6) members of Evangelical for Mitt.
Yeah, it sure sounded like a political "set up" to me. It's just like political operatives to try and scam the public into believing lies like that (about Evangelical Christians). Mitt Romney has got a real big liability with Christian Evangelicals. He's going nowhere with them.

What’s the odds that the Fed Tax Code is going to change in the next 8 years no matter who is president?
I’m saying there ain’t a snowball’s chance in hell.
By writing in bold you think you look smart, when in reality you said nothing remotely true or interesting whatsoever.
It is your contention that Mormons are deceived. How is it then that they can judge an evangelical candidate justly?
Well, it doesn't appear that Mormons are deceived. I think they very well know that the Mormon doctrines do not match Evangelical Christian doctrines. They know that Joseph Smith is their founding prophet while Christians accept no such thing. Mormons also know that they take other Scriptures as more authoritative than the Bible, such as the Book of Mormon and The Pearl of Great Price (and others) while Christians accept only the Bible as authoritative. Mormons also know that they accept the fact that Satan was the brother (spirit brother, if you will) of Jesus, while the Christians accept no such thing.
So, do I think that Mormons are deceived. No, I don't. I think they know very well how their doctrines differ radically from true Christian doctrines. Thus Mormons are not deceived. However, on the other hand, there are some Christians who are decieved about Mormonism. That much can be true.

at which point, i asked if he truly believed that Christianity was based on a cult. he basically mumbled something and hung up the phone. (disappeared in a cloud of logic)
meanwhile... i don't see the press getting out of shape over Obama's muslim background, HReid's mormonism, Kennedy's catholicism, or Leiberman's Judaism. Forget the MSM... I expect them to be biased. I'm surprised freepers (maybe just the baiters) are harping on it while they never harped on the beliefs of other candidates. Since when did the 'freeper-nation' start acting like a bunch of ya-hoos?
But, I have to agree, you looked mighty smart yourself... LOL...
That doesn't mean he should be a city councilman, much less President.
