MICHAEL CHERTOFF, HOMELAND SECURITY SECRETARY: You know, Wolf, first, I understand there's *** some people who expect anything other than capital punishment is an amnesty. *** The reality is the proposal here requires people who came in illegally who want to stay to pay a penalty. Like a fine. That's a punishment. That's not an amnesty.
The worst of it is that this is the clown we depend on to protect our borders. Jorge must have his head in a VERY dark place.
What colossal arrogance!
They're rewriting the laws so illegals can stay. It's an amnesty.
Chertoff, IMO, is the Bush Admin official most to blame for problems with the federal Katrina response.
I did not trust Chertoff from the word go.
Fire the bastard.
And the hits just keep on coming!
Chertoff - murderers
Graham - bigots
Bush - vigilantes
Martinez? - we will educate them on the bill
Folks these people are from our own party! How much more arrogance and elitism are we going to take? They stand there every day and tell us we are ignorant, racist, and bigoted simply because we don’t want our country invaded. What do the Democrats do when they have no argument? They start calling people names. The Republicans have fallen into that too now.
Well, they no longer represent me, they represent Mexico.
Well, they don’t represent me. I am ashamed to be associated with them.
who does he think we are? Not, who. What. He thinks we are stupid. As in, we will take it (lying down, sitting up, squatting...) as usual
The proposed law would allow even terrorists and gang members to stay. The only thing these clowns are interested in protecting is cheap labor interests and the prison industry.
This is a new (not really) canard. I’ve watched many pols, talking heads and other pro amnesty folks saying that us extremists will only settle for mass deportation of 12-20 million illegals and that is not possible.
BS. I don’t expect that we can round them all up either. I do think that we can secure our borders and provide interior enforcement first, then prepare a system of employee verification that’s much less than a national ID. We can deport every illegal as they have run-ins with law enforcement. We can withdraw most incentives and then most illegals will self-deport. Then, if we still need cheap labor, we can invite them in from their home countries after careful screening.
I am rapidly losing all faith in this government. Are they morons are or are they just too crafty?
Try this. We do fine speeders, not put them in jail. On the other hand, if they are still speeding at the time we try to give them a ticket, we usually chase them until the stop speeding, and if they do it too much we throw them in jail.
An illegal who walks into a room and pays a fine is still here illegally after they pay the fine. Unless of course someone passes a law that says that being here is no LONGER a crime.
I’d love it if I could just pay one speeding ticket and then I could speed all I wanted to.
Chertoff is a buttlicker.
His total infatuation with The Swimmer is off-the-chart insane.
His handling of Homeland Security is off-the-chart insane.
Considering him as an advisor to elected officials in any capacity except personal valet is off-the-chart insane.
The sad thing is he was a pretty good judge, and Bush HAD him on an appeals court, and he YANKED HIM OFF the courts. He hasn’t been able to fill that appeals court position with another good judge. So we lost a good judge to get Chertoff running the DHS.
Chertoff (brought to prominence by none other than Rudy Giuliani, then was appropriated by GHWB, embraced by the Clintonistas, and then catapulted to his current position by GWB.
Want to know something really "funny"? He is being floated as a possible replacement for Alberto Gonzales, should Gonzales get the axe.
As much idiotic hyperbole as Chertoff spews, it’s not half as bad as what Fred Barnes is saying.
"What would you do if these 12 million were al queda?"
Would you give them amnesty also?
