Romney still has done nothing to address his extensive support of the gay agenda as governor of Massachusetts. Perhaps he thinks that the majority of Republican primary voters think that the advancement of this agenda in society isn’t an issue.
Hooray!
My thinking — Romney is insurance against Rudy McCain. For now.
Also, I like him.
I’d like to see polling of the Republican faithful following this week’s immigration fiasco...especially in Iowa. McCain should have all but dropped off the map.
Is that sulfur I smell?

The MSM kept talking about Rudy’s performance in the debate. Mitt was the one that interested me. Also I liked Tancredo, but nobody mentioned him.
Dick Morris said he finally figured out why McCain wasn’t gaining traction - he saw during the debate he’s “gone Washington”. Geez, he only had to ask one of us. McCain’s been dirt with the base since McCain Feingold. Also, whether you like Bush or not, you don’t like seeing him stabbed in the back.
Not too sure about Romney...in 2000, GWB seemed like a conservative too. Romney’s weak on guns and dicey on abortion. But I’d vote for him over Giuliani or McCain, and over any Democrat to come down the pike.
Remember how Dean allegedly had the momentum going into Iowa in 2004 and seemingly nobody was talking John Kerry until the last 48 hours and then Kerry won from seemingly nowhere? I don’t trust the Iowa polls. I think those folks probably get pushpolled to death.
What will matter in Iowa is a) money and b) organization.
Full steam ahead to the Ames Straw Poll!!!
Romney is benefitting from the Illegal Invader issue which has thrown a spotlight on RINOS JulieAnnie and McClown.
I’m supporint Hunter or Fred Thompson or Huckabee in the primary.
If Julie Annie or McClwon get nominated, they don’t get my vote.
If ROmeny gets nominated, he gets my vote - in large part due to his stand on this illegal invader issue.
It’s really something that no matter what happens, FR-preferred candidates like Duncan Hunter just gets thoroughly rejected by the electorate.
Speaks volumes for the FR point of view, I suppose.
This thread reminds me a lot of the Rudy threads of 3-4 months ago. Just as the truth came out about the New York liberal in the race, the truth will come out about the one from Massachusetts. Rudy was our Hillary. Romneey is our Kerry. it’s time to throw the candidacy of Rudy McRomney into the trash can and look at the other alternatives.
As for the endless proclamations that “second tier candidates can’t win”, if conservatives get behind them and pull the levers and donate money, they win. Despite all that has gone wrong in America over the past decade, we still go to the voting booth to elect our leaders.
Mitt bump!
“The new Des Moines Register poll shows an AMAZING jump for Romney up to 30%!!! He has a double digit lead over Giuliani and McCain (17% and 18% respectively). This is among “Likely Republican Caucus-goers” and exclude unannounced possible candidates (F. Thompson and Newt namely).”
Of the top three, this is the only acceptable candidate. He took a strong stand against the amnesty bill, it’s not shocking that he would pull ahead in Iowa. I am not sure at this point that even Thompson could change the outcome...Romney leads in Iowa, New Hampshire and is gaining in S. Carolina. If he wins those three, this is over. He’s not my first or even second choice. But if this is the most conservative we can get, I’ll support him. At least until 2012.
