I’m sorry, I missed your post.....
I am not saying there’s nothing we can do, but we’re very weak compared to a year ago. All we can do is let our own senators and representatives know that this bill should not be approved as it is written. I’ll be 99 of 100 that would complain about any of the provisions of the bill will not do so. So let’s agree to do so! So what should we be for and against? Let’s make a list....
1. Amnesty of any kind. Totally opposed.
2. Those who broke the law go to the END of the line to get back in.
3. Complete payment of back taxes. Tough if it will be hard to collect. Work harder.
4. Severe and ENFORCED penalties for employers hiring illegal aliens and anyone using forged IDs or helping to produce forged IDs.
5. A complete border protection plan. What happened to our 800 mile long fence (last years bill)? Why does the Kennedy plan only call for a 300 mile long fence? Bring back a longer fence.
6. Worker cards that are forge-proof that all must carry to prove they followed the new law. See # 4 above.

It is. Thye problem is that that law has not been enforced. We were promised enforcement as part of the 1986 Amnesty. We will not get enforcement with this one.
Bush is trying to ram this down our throats. We must let him know that we will not stand for this. He will go down as the worst president ever if he sells our nation to the lowest bidder.
I have been an ardent supporter of Bush, but I have come to the conclusion that he may just be as stupid as the democrats have been saying he is. Maybe stupider.

Because the Illegal Aliens keep voting them back to Washington. They break every other law, why not the voting laws? When is the last time an illegal alien was charged with the crime of voting in an election without being a citizen???

I don't know where the Feds get this idea that there are 12 million illegal aliens in the United States. There are literally 12 million in California.

Yes I did and he has already made a public statement against it. I called to congratulate him and thank him for standing up for the United States. I also thanked him for his courage. If this law passes there is not a snowball's chance in Hell that he will ever be re-elected again.

It was a power that was usurped by the Supreme Court in Marbury v. Madison. It was a power that was later allowed to be used by lower courts.
It is not explicit in the Constitution. IMO both Congress and the President have equal authority to judge the constutionality of any law. Indeed, it is their solemn duty. The Consitution does not make the Supreme Court the final arbiter of what is or is not consitutional. Ultimately it is left to the people.
Yeah, but what's wrong with a red-blooded businessman wanting "cheap" labor? It would be just as much a sell-out if exploitative politicians took such control of the marketplace that they determined the lowest end wage by law, not to mention payroll taxes, health insurance, etc., and the businessman has to force that into how he profits from a "free economy." Oh, hey, they already do that!
A profit and loss sheet doesn't care about the niceties of minimum wage. If the free market wasn't so shackled because of government regulation that burdens and discourages businesses from acting lawfully to be profitable, this wouldn't even be an issue. Just because it's the law doesn't make it moral. How is it moral to force a businessman to compensate employees more than what fits their balance sheets? I think the illegal Mexican immigrant problem is in big part just the inevitable real wage, real value.
Meaning that a vital part of any solution has to address a false minimum wage value. The government requires a business to pay the person more than his value. It's fake, false, inflated. Something's gotta give somewhere in that scenario. And this is it.
Teenagers and low-skilled people would benefit the most quickly from it. Teenagers would learn pretty fast that the better they work, the better the pay, and low-skilled people with good work ethics would be able to climb the ladder well.

I will continue to disagree with you over Pres Bush’s role in this. I disagree with him on any attempt to provide amnesty, if that is in fact what he wants, which I don’t think he does.
