'In Maryland neither one is necessary!'

Wow! In Texas, you HAVE to have some form of ID. It can be your voter registration card, driver's license, or a untility bill showing your name and address. Once you are 'in the book', it is hard to get out of it. If you die, someone in your family has to swear to it to get you out. If you move into a new district, you have to vote where your name is in the book.

May I suggest you refund all the money I have payed to this website?? Do you need some sort of “conservative” pledge to get in here? Didn’t think so on either count.

Fact is we need Mexican labor, but need to control it and identify it.

We have laws already on the books to do that. Why haven't they been enforced?

I personally work with a number of lumber companies that cannot find enough American labor to do their work.

The fact is that American business wants cheap, plentiful labor that it can exploit. Could the "fact" that lumber companies cannot find enough American labor have something to do with the wages and benefits offered? Once businesses are forced to pay these immigrants comparable wages and benefits, they will lose their attractiveness. And this will set the stage for a new crop of illegals.

What would you suggest, close the mills and move them to Mexico or China? How many busisesses are you willing to sacrifice?? What would you do if you were “el Presedente”?

What is the real cost of these "guest workers," self-selected or otherhwise? Of adult immigrants, 31 percent have not completed high school, three-and-a-half times the rate for natives. At the same time we tell our children to stay in school, we import high school dropouts into our economy. The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 29 percent, compared to 18 percent for native households.

Will the lumber companies and other businesses pay the increased costs for schools, hospitals, prisons, and other social welfare systems?

What the matter? Don’t like having your own posting style turned BACK at you?

Better think twice before dishing it out next time then.

Yep, you make total sense. It's what I suspected for a long time now.

It's the Republicans who have been hit with the stupid stick on this one. Amazing how cheaply some can be bought, and for so little.

Ironic that this is your response to my Tiny Tent conservative charge. You made my point exactly.

It is with some relief that we did not have you in the GOP party during the years we successfully separated ourselves from the Dewey-Rockerfeller lead party that spewed the identical thought processes that we hear from you. If we had continued to follow that process, there never could have been a conservative rebirth in our nation. That rebirth is now being aborted by the RINOs and George Bush and their apologists.

"They have driven people away from the Party in droves with their numerous “conservative” our way or the highway litmus tests."

I have to ask: what exactly would be your thresehold for the unacceptable?

I infer that the "a path toward citizenship" for 50 million uneducated, unskilled, third world day laborers doesn't do it. And their exemption from medical waivers, financial background, and home country criminal record doesn't seem bothersome.

I'd guess that the signoff on a grossly unconstitutional restriction on politcal speech didn't ruffle your feathers.

The embarrassing laydowns on Plame, NSA leaks, Berger, and other criminal breaches of national security doesn't seem a problem.

So what is it that might cause you concern? It seems like we're at the very outer threshold of deliberate and willfull and ongoing negligence, yet you and others here act as if there will be no consequences so long as one maintains some sort of rock-ribbed loyalty.

Sorry, we're just about to reach my threshold, and that of millions of other Republicans (of whatever stripe).

It is only because of the serious warnings of incensed Republican voters last year that we escaped this disaster. But seeing his favorable opportunity with a Democrat House, President George W Bush has brought this heinous plan out for a third try.

1 The ONLY thing standing between you and your worst nightmares on Immigration is the political spines of 41 GOP Senators.

2. The GOP House Leadership they fired last Nov for not being dogmatically pure enough had this Immigration thing DEAD.

3. If this thing passes, 90% of the votes in Congress for this stupid bill will be DEMOCRAT votes.

Thanks for your list. The cognitively challenged amongst us will ignore it.

Nice try, but the lumber companies cannot find American workers and have tried for 20 years. They can barely keep Mexican labor before they head down the road for easier work. Your exploiting the worker argument sounds vaguely Marxist. How expensive you willing to make a house??

So you are basically for eliminating the lumber industry to get rid of Mexicans. That is not an answer.

In 1994, President Ronald Reagan was 83 years old, and facing the likelihood of a diminishing life. BUT, he was 83 years old when he wrote this last letter to America public, officially leaving the public stage in the same manner in which he had lived his life: with grace, courage, dignity, gentility and eloquence.

~~~~~~~~~~
http://www.blackfive.net/main/2004/06/courage.html
“November 5, 1994
My fellow Americans, I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans who will be afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.
Upon learning this news, Nancy and I had to decide whether as private citizens we would keep this a private matter or whether we would make this news known in a public way. In the past, Nancy suffered from breast cancer and I had my cancer surgeries. We found through our open disclosures we were able to raise public awareness. We were happy that as a result, many more people underwent testing. They were treated in early stages and able to return to normal, healthy lives.
So now we feel it is important to share it with you. In opening our hearts,we hope this might promote greater awareness of this condition. Perhaps it will encourage a clearer understanding of the individuals and families who are affected by it.
At the moment I feel just fine. I intend to live the remainder of the years God gives me on this Earth doing the things I have always done. I will continue to share life’s journey with my beloved Nancy and my family. I plan to enjoy the great outdoors and stay in touch with my friends and supporters.
Unfortunately, as Alzheimer’s disease progresses, the family often bears a heavy burden. I only wish there was some way I could spare Nancy from this painful experience. When the time comes, I am confident that with your help she will face it with faith and courage.
In closing, let me thank you, the American people, for giving me the great honor of allowing me to serve as your president. When the Lord calls me home, whenever that day may be, I will leave with the greatest love for this country of ours and eternal optimism for its future.
I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead.
Thank you, my friends. May God always bless you.
Ronald Reagan
This letter displays the courage and optimism of the man that was Ronald Reagan. At this point, he hadn’t been President for almost 5 years. No speech writer wrote that letter. No editor checked it first. One word was crossed out and the rest of it stood on it’s own.
It’s the best indicator of Ronald Reagan’s heart and soul...which was filled with Courage and Optimism.”
~~~~~

Those miscreants who keep trying to pierce his unique greatness, to stain the mantle of this magnificent man and world leader .. aren’t worthy to have tied even one of his shoes, and make themselves ever measly and insignificant in their pathetic displays of hatred and jealousy.

How many fools in Congress today.. one, two and three decades younger than he was in 1994 ... are but scrawled commas to his perfect paragraphs.

83 years old.

Notice how they have no solutions to the problem and never have. Their answer is “enforce the law”. Good, take all of our police and ignore everything but shovelling sand back to Mexico. How much money we going to spend on that Mr conservative?

Why hasn't the border been secured, especially after 9/11? Enforcing the law is what this country is based on. No one should be above it. If you selectively enforce the laws, it tears the very fabric of our society. If this new immigration bill passes, should it be enforced?

We don't even know how many illegal aliens are in this country nor do we have any real data on how much they are costing us. How can we set good public policy without good data?

I never said I was not a Conservative, I just left the conservative movement. I am not a lockstep conservative, which is what the movement requires and enforces. The movement now is, if Bush is for it, were agin it.

I am a Capitalistic Conservative who believes in the Free Market to manage itself.

What lumber industry that survives only does so despite the refusal of the RINO and GWB to expose these Green Wackos for what they are. His collaboration with these people and refusal to take up the fight has led to our inability to drill and refine our own oil and harvest our timber.

:-) Hi everyone,

I can’t stay— I have to study, but check out this item from lgf— apparently Ron Paul supporters sent Charles Johnson a lot of hate mail when his name wasn’t included on a presidential poll.

They can't keep Mexican labor eh?

Well maybe the solution should be to just throw the door wide open to anybody.

Apparently us Americans are too damn stupid and lazy to tend our own affairs.

You aren't fooling anybody Bray.
