It's in the national news today that the sparring Republicans and Democrats are hard at work trying to craft an immigration bill that is palatable to both parties. It's a funny deal. The parties are sweating out a bill to make the politicians happy, but no one is asking what American voters and citizens think about it. And Americans don't like it.
[Snip]
They're talking about a bill that will grant amnesty to illegal aliens and put them on a path to citizenship, and a guest worker program. The Democrats love this idea because they think they'll get the majority of the votes of the poor and disenfranchised and they'll stay in power. Republican business interests love this idea because they can keep hiring cheap, unskilled labor at wages far below a decent living wage.
George Bush is a lackey to American corporate interests, personified in the form of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an organization that has consistently fought for keeping the minimum wage low and for granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. What a disgusting position to take. Let's see - we'll keep wages below poverty level to deprive our own citizens a decent living, and we'll invite a bunch of illiterate peasants from disease-ridden countries to take their jobs! Why? Because we'll make higher profits! But we'll contribute a boatload of money to Republican politicians to make it happen, because that's democracy at work! Our greenbacks represent our political speech!

Hubbell unloads with some good material on the BS bill. For example:
The Democrats, on the other hand, smelling blood in the water, are enjoying their newfound majorities in Congress, and think they can take over the big kahuna: the presidency and Congress all at once. If they can somehow register several million illegal aliens, they'll have the prize, and they can push through their bizarre concoction of victimhood, entitlement, political correctness, gay marriage, gun bans and baby-killing all in one fell swoop.
Both parties are pandering to anyone but the American public, people like you and me who look around and wonder what happened to the concept of abiding by the law.
IMHO, this editorial is a good read.
Are they suicidal or just plain stupid?
Are they covertly working for the destruction of the United States, or are they just plain stupid?
Maybe they're just plain stupid.
One thing's certain--it's time to kick Lindsey Graham, Saxby Chambliss, and Johnny Isaakson out of the Senate as soon as possible!
They are corporate boys - as long as the Chamber of Commerce guys make the projected profit off illegals in the next quarter, who cares if the Democrats take control with the votes of illegals and tax them into the ground. They’ll worry about that when it happens. Bush’s motto should be that of the French King before the Revolution who said, “Apres Moi, Le Deluge”. As long as the Amnesty disaster destroys the Republican party AFTER Bush leaves office, he could care less.
Surprised that an article like this came out of Aspen....
I figured that just about all the ‘significant’ people there had at least three Illegal Alien employees; A cook, a nanny/housekeeper and a ‘landscaper’.
“Are they suicidal or just plain stupid”. the stupid party.
You are right! However, to replace RINOS with other RINOS is no gain.
All politicians are turning a deaf ear to the American people about the Mexican invasion of America.
I predict that someone riding a white horse (or a white broom) will come in and sweep the 08 election on the immigration crisis.
Will it be Fred Thompson or the Wicked Witch from the East?
Not all politicians are turning a deaf ear.Last week the mayor of Hazelton, Pa. was reelected with 94% of the Republican vote and won the Democrat side with a write-in campaign. In our local area, the County Commissioner who took the federal govt. to court over requiring us to have ballots in english and spanish overwhelmingly won over six other candidates. The problem on the national level is that these Senators and members of Congress think people will forget. I’m hoping we don’t but betting we will...
For sure. And not only do citizens not get amnesty for document fraud, ID theft, perjury, and other crimes but the "family values" ILLEGAL "immigrants" do and they take a giant step toward the right to vote (legally for a change). While of course felony convictions deny the right to vote to other less favored before the law citizens.
Seems to be a violation of that anchor baby and equal protection Fourteenth Amendment. But hey! what's that old parchment thingy have to do with the Community of North America?
A perfect example of how the system really doesn’t work. Our elected officials impose laws on us that are not good for us, and they expect us to shut up and accept it.
Sorry to say that they are my Senators. I hear that Saxby and Johnny were booed at the recent Georgia Republican convention.
You can bet that I will be working hard to defeat them in the next election. I hope that real conservatives will step forward to fill these seats.
I've stopped giving money and time to the party a while ago and will only contribute and work for individuals.
Please take a moment to call your elected representatives to let them know how you feel. Whether they are pro or con for this, it will tell them what they need to know.
We should ask our State legislators and local elected officials what impact the Amnesty will have on our State and Local governments.
Excellent article. This man does not mince words.
The pols have been warned.
