Naco on high alert, port of entry reopen

The border town of Naco is on heightened alert after fierce gun battles in Mexico.

The violence started Wednesday after dozens of armed gunmen raided a police armory and kidnapped and killed several officers.

Friday, Mexican port officials in Naco were not allowing cars to enter Mexico. The people trapped in Naco left their vehicles behind and walked across.

It’s on both sides of the border. The Mexican side is by far the most developed and is the larger of the two by several magnitudes...if the word magnitude is applicable to dirty little border towns.

A lot of cross border strife has ocurred around ‘los Nacos’both during the Villa era and the 1928-29 revolt.

I guess the “War on Drugs” is turned into a quagmire. When are the congescritters going to howl for benchmarks and demand a timetable for withdrawal?
