Global warming debunked
The Timaru Herald ^ | 5/19/07 | Andrew Swallow

Climate change will be considered a joke in five years time, meteorologist Augie Auer told the annual meeting of Mid Canterbury Federated Farmers in Ashburton this week.

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried, he maintained.

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

A combination of misinterpreted and misguided science, media hype, and political spin had created the current hysteria and it was time to put a stop to it.

"It is time to attack the myth of global warming," he said.

Water vapour was responsible for 95 per cent of the greenhouse effect, an effect which was vital to keep the world warm, he explained.

"If we didn't have the greenhouse effect the planet would be at minus 18 deg C but because we do have the greenhouse effect it is plus 15 deg C, all the time."

The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contributed only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 per cent.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that, hence only 0.12 per cent of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc made similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 per cent respectively.

"That ought to be the end of the argument, there and then," he said.

"We couldn't do it (change the climate) even if we wanted to because water vapour dominates."

Yet the Greens continued to use phrases such as "The planet is groaning under the weight of CO2" and Government policies were about to hit industries such as farming, he warned.

"The Greens are really going to go after you because you put out 49 per cent of the countries emissions. Does anybody ask 49 per cent of what? Does anybody know how small that number is?

"It's become a witch-hunt; a Salem witch-hunt," he said.

Nothing new here, but it's always nice to see experts acknowledge it.

I totally agree with him... except for the part that it will be a joke in 5 years.

Unfortunately the brainwashing of the masses has been so successful that it’ll take a lot longer to undo the damage.

Right. If people cannot agree on how water vapor contributes to greenhouse effect then its a standoff of competing models. Since the left wants to attack capitalism anyway and exercise more government and global control over people’s lives they have too much invested in this to give up in five years. I believe this will go on indefinitely as a debate.

It's ironic that a big push to the start of this was Dupont paying for a study at USC to fake the ozone thing so they could protect the freon r-12 patent.

That ball's been snowballing downhill ever since.

What I like about his assertions is that he uses numbers. The numbers always give the lie to this new greenie religion. Reality is receiving more support by the Auer!

I truly believe that BEANO (“the only natural food enzyme dietary supplement that can help prevent gas before it starts”) is responsible for lowering the methane in our atmosphere. :)

Also, a little sidebar here:

I believe BEANO may have a good market with all the illegal Mexicans in the U.S.A.

“I think we can control the carbon dioxide rather easily, because it’s a question of land management essentially and the amounts that are involved in the vegetation are so large that if you merely just change some of the forest management practices or do a little more irrigation in some places, it’s quite likely you can absorb all the carbon dioxide you want, at a cost which is far less than stopping burning coal and oil. So that’s essentially what I’m trying to understand.” -Freeman Dyson

“I’m not saying the warming doesn’t cause problems, obviously it does. Obviously we should be trying to understand it. I’m saying that the problems are being grossly exaggerated. They take away money and attention from other problems that are much more urgent and important. Poverty, infectious diseases, public education and public health. Not to mention the preservation of living creatures on land and in the oceans.” -Physicist Freeman Dyson

This is what I`ve been saying all along, this global warming hoax is so ridiculous it just baffles me how anyone can buy into it, but it just goes to show how readily people buy into liberal tripe.

Just as a simple example, the atmosphere is made up of only 0.0383% CO2 (which you can call ZERO POINT ZERO)...By just looking at that number, it doesn`t take a genius to see how infinitesimal the amount of CO2 we contribute. Like this guy says, we couldn`t even if we tried.

Well I think he said that because an article came out last week saying that global warming will become irreversible in 5 years. It was pretty much a “The world will be destroyed in 5 years” kind of article.

So in 5 years when people see nothing has changed, that article will be a joke. But like you said, the brainwashed will continue to believe the hoax and brush it aside. They`ll probably even change the date; “We meant 6 years from now, not 5!”

The average temperature in April 2007 was 51.7 F.

This was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average, the 47th coolest April in 113 years.

"The Greens are really going to go after you because you put out 49 per cent of the countries emissions. Does anybody ask 49 per cent of what? Does anybody know how small that number is?"

Some Freeper figured it out a few months ago....The total percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.0383%..Out of that, man contributes 0.0017% (liberals claim this is why the percentage moved to 0.04%) So what is 49% of 0.0017%? Around 0.00074%? Yes, we are killing the earth with our zero point zero zero zero output.
