If you are getting better mileage than 10 mpg around town, that would suggest to me that you MAY be driving an unsafe car.... it's absolutely essential that Festus has the safest vehicle possible, made out of steel and not plastic, .....

Well one would think that a 1/2 ton domestic quad cab gasser would be made of steel but you are correct. The entire grill that they advertise on tv about how tough the truck is with a robot smashing it in vain, is made entirely of plastic. So you do have a point.

That's blatantly false advertising....very dishonest.

(actually, in fairness, the stoatmobile gets around 14-16 mpg in the city, and it has a full 1-ton Super Duty chassis...I feel 'somewhat' safe in it)

When it's unloaded, yes. About the worst I've ever gotten with it is 12 mpg. It has the 7.3L turbo diesel, and there aren't many hills nearby.

Of course your around town and my around town might be different towns. When I upgrade at some point I either want to go diesel or else hopefully the 3/4 tons will have E85 gassers. I can either run the biodiesel I see at some of these pumps or else the E85. I don't care how much less effecient it is as long as I can piss off a shiek by using it. ;-)

They only banned bats because they are too afraid some kid will get hurt, not because of the same reasons as for guns. But it’s still a wimpy, lawyer-screened policy so that no one is offended, no one gets hurt. The director told me they have parents who would be very offended at any “violence” related things such as guns or play swords, etc. They even made sure no one had a plastic sword or pitchfork at halloween. Sadly, I don’t think this place is very unusual.

It's still silly. How are kids going to learn how to play BASEBALL? When I was a young stoat in public school, we had bats and balls and all that stuff. Nobody ever got hurt except for the occasional skinned knee or maybe a broken finger now and then but that was part of growing up and that was what the school nurse was paid to deal with.

It's probably not too unusual, but when you said that they weren't even allowed to say the word "gun" earlier, and a kid's "Guns and Roses" t-shirt caused a collective fit in the school, those things I hadn't heard of before.
