We’ll register immigrant Democrats from Virginia to Florida, from Maryland to Texas and out to Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and California. It’s enough to make me say: “YEEAAAHHHHH!”

Sincerely,
Howard.

Pretty well summarizes the damage that Bush, Rove, Martinez, McConnell, Lott, McCain, Boehner, Blunt have done to our party. The damage they've done to the country unconscionable, but what bothers me at least as much is the damage that he's done to the Republican Party and the conservative cause.

Six years ago, everyone was writing off the future of the Democratic Party ("A National Party No More") and talking about a 40-year Republican dynasty. After six years of neo-Cons, pork-barrel spending, corruption, and "compassionate" liberalism, the Republican Party is fractured and fragmenting. People who were staunch Republicans are looking for a conservative home because the Republican party appears to have abandoned the principles that made it great.

As a party, we have only ourselves to blame. We're the ones who nominated, contributed to, campaigned for, and elected those who are now destroying our party.

What is even worse is that I don't see the strength, moral commitment, principled leadership, and guts in any of our currently campaigning candidates to lead us back. Is the Republican Party to go the way of the Whigs? Why have we allowed our party to be lead so far astray? How do we take our party back?
