Rush: Immigration Bill Will Kill GOP
NewsMax.com ^ | May 18, 2007 | staff

Supporters call it a Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, but top radio talker Rush Limbaugh has another name for it. He calls it the "Comprehensive Destroy the Republican Party Bill."

During Friday's syndicated broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh program, Rush criticized the Senate's immigration proposal as liberalism gone wild.

"Liberals are trying to tear this country down institution by institution and rebuild it in their own image, and this is one of the steps that they are trying to make it happen," he said.

Rush warned that if this bill comes out of the Senate in its present form - and it's highly doubtful that it will - the liberals in the House will not vote for it. He said the politicians realize that there are Democrats in California, Arizona, Texas and Virginia where illegal immigration is a red hot issue and a vote for this bill would be political suicide.

As for Republicans, they have already lost California, Rush reminded his listeners. If they lose Virginia and lose Florida, it's all over for the GOP as far as elections go. And being blamed for this immigration bill could cost them both states.

Rush explained that this is why Senate Democrats want Republicans to receive "credit" for passing this bill.

"It's a piece of legislation that hardly anybody has ever seen," he said, yet already "there are walls of opposition that are being built on all sides of this."

The bill, he warned, will create "a brand new, giant welfare state paid by the rest of us," yet illegal immigrants are telling the media: "'I don't like this. I don't like having to go home. I don't want to pay these fines.'"

They needn't worry, Rush said. The illegals will not be forced to go home at all. They are not going to pay any fines. It's not going to happen because there is no political will to do so.

"Once this bill passes they'll be talking about how if you have to go home it will split up families and they'll say the fines would be taking food out of the mouths of poor children by making the parents pay these ridiculous fines," Rush told his audience.

Speaking of why any Republicans are supporting the bill, Rush explained: "You could legalize rape in this country if you simply called it the Civil Rights Act of 2007 because nobody on Capitol Hill has the guts to vote against anything that claims to be broadening or creating civil rights. It's a code word."

What if the criminal aliens, crooks, terrorists and narco-gangsters don’t want amnesty? Why should they? Wouldn’t they have to pay taxes? How can you force criminals to become citizens? Why would you? If these people really wanted to be real citizens they wouldn’t use phony ID’s.

Laura, Rush, Hugh Hewitt (on my "S" list by the way...), Hannity, Savage, Beck are all against it.

I didn't hear Dennis Prager.

However what little I heard of Medved made want to scream, he sounded for it.

If we organize and melt down their phone lines and protest or maybe pull a John Galt and do not work, this will make Harriet Miers and the Dubai Port Deal look like like a garden party.

Now you see why they want to stop talk radio....

I'm sure glad you're not my neighborhood cop, or deputy!!! You believe in enforcing all the laws but the one that says "breaking and entering" is ILLEGAL!!!

An inconsistency this big, brings your commitment to conservatism into serious question, Mr. DCPatriot!!!

She played comments by several candidates including Fred Thompson’s. There were lots of calls. Hunter got most all the votes. Thompson got two.

[Posted on antoher thread] Send written letters and notes. Postcards are too easily “lost” in the mail. Politicians consider one handwritten letter the voice of many because that person took the time to write and will have the determination to sway others (family & Friends) in elections.

Another suggestion: make up a simple petition - paper not email - and get ten signatures per page from neighbors, colleagues, church, social clubs, friends and mail to Republican Presidential candidates as well as your representatives. When they begin seeing a paper trail, they get nervous!

Have an extra copy because believe me, you will be asked for a copy from someone else so they can pass it out.

It's shocking to me that too many of you are morally outraged...even though your quality of life has not suffered because of it.

Even were that true, which it is not...the fundamental principles of our country, our sovereignty, and our own unique American culture are dear to us. That they are not for you, is a considerable mark against you.

Truth be told, all your lives have been better because of the illegal immigrant...but that's for another thread perhaps.

Probably a non-existent one since you can't begin to prove it. You are aware who fills up our jails, aren't you? You are aware of the impact on teenage employment by illegals aren't you? You are aware of the devastation on Emergency Rooms and Hospital finances wreaked from coast to coast...and hence directly impacting our Insurance premiums, aren't you? You are aware of ESL having forced many quality American schools to drop numerous educational programs to try and deal with teaching their children...at our taxpayer expense...and short-changing our own children's opportunities for serious foreign languages [i.e., the languages of technologically serious cultures]

You are aware of the uninsured motorist tsunami of Mexican origin aren't you? And are you aware of where 85% of Crystal Meth now is coming from, and which demographic is directly aiding and abetting its distribution?

And you are aware of the rising tide of third world diseases becoming serious and dangerously threatening to our own health and safety right here?

And let's get this out of the way, Mr. "staunchly conservative in every facet...except illegal immigration".

What part of "Illegal" don't you understand? And just who, if you are conservative at all, do you imagine these illegals...once given the US franchise...will be voting for????????????????????????????

I am not surprised in the least. I worked for prominent mayors in a major American city and the thing that always worked was the written letter. Each letter had to receive a reply (even a form letter) and that gets attention and counted.

Each letter counts as six - ten people depending on subject. Each petition is counted fivefold (ten signatures equate to fifty voters) you get the idea.

Preprogrammed petitions from websites will not hold as much weight because people can claim they are special interest generated from a website and dismiss them. That is why from the heart letters, notes and petitions will make the Congressional Elite pay attention to the governed.

Phone calls can be reported as less or more than what was actually received.

No, actually, I don’t. I’m completely against this bill. I was responding to a poster who suggested that conservatives were whining about comprehensive immigration reform.

I think that Kennedy shouldn’t be walking around breathing free air, but then it doesn’t surprise me that he is.

There is a certain type of 'conservative' who is willing to overlook a whole lot of decidedly 'un-conservative' consequences if it means a few extra dollars at the end of the week...

"First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew..."

Exactly right. Principal. Not convenience. We must be a nation of laws, and not political "feel-good" whims. The arbitrary lawless dictatorship government is quickly arrived at once these scoff-law policies become the norm...

You know... All this "in you face" crappola from our beloved President and Senate Repellicans is just too fatiguing to do all that calling and writing! They're NOT listening and don't intend to.

They have become inurred to the people and enthralled with their own insular thinking and positions. They are not smiling large and rushing around to meet with us and shake our hands right now... They only wants to fool ya, so's they can rule ya!!!

By the way... what are some words that rhyme with amnesty?

Washington political pollster Frank Luntz, who in an earlier private memo told Congress that Americans are not only ready for an overhaul of illegal alien policy, "they are demanding it," is now warning members that the competing House and Senate solutions must contain one consensus: "No amnesty."

"Any Republican who votes for legislation on illegal immigration that walks, talks, looks or smells like amnesty will reap the wrath......." http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JohnMcCaslin/2006/06/27/amnesty,_stupid

“GWB has always been in the amnesty camp with the liberals. I still cannot fathom why. Low cost labor cannot possibly be as important to U.S. business interests as border security. This is about creating a voting block out of Hispanics while creating a schism in the GOP. If this is a chess match between Dean and Rove, this move definitely goes to Dean.”

GWB has ALWAYS been with his father and the New World Order. This is just another step in establishing the North American Union.

Nope. Not us, anyways. That's for sure. But they are smiling large and laughing...at us...

It is as if they are daring Americans to revolt.
