I vow to oppose this legislation supported by Senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain. It provides a vast new immigration benefit to millions of illegal aliens who have broken our laws to live in the United States.I opposed the 1986 amnesty act because of this same reason. It proved to be the draw that we predicted it would be.I am deeply disappointed to see history repeating itself.
This package will confirm to the world that the U.S. does not really mean what it says when it comes to immigration enforcement. As a result of the citizenship benefit included in this legislation, despite the fine print, we will see a stampede across our borders.
This vast new amnesty and expansive guest worker program will surely be ridden with fraud and abuse, and ultimately lead to millions of public-assistance-dependent immigrants.
The Senates decision to blatantly ignore the Secure Fence Act signed into law last year and only require construction of 370 miles of fence, as opposed to the 854 miles mandated by the law, is a dramatic failure of this legislation. The San Diego border fence has proven that fencing works. The time has come to quickly implement the Secure Fence Act, not retreat from its mandates.
I believe that this package will result in lower wages for Americas already-struggling families by encouraging the importation of cheap foreign labor rather than investing, developing and growing a domestic workforce that will sustain our economy far into the future.
Amnesty is not the answer.Border enforcement must be first and it must be comprehensive. To do otherwise is to repeat the mistakes of the past. This Senate bill is bad for Americans, bad for our workers, bad for law enforcement and, most importantly, bad for national security.I will fight it.Please join with me.

Hunter news needs to continue to be posted and bumped to the top. The only way we americans have a chance is to blanket the Internet, talk radio, etc with news about Hunter and his stands - we must force the other media (and the american people) to start paying attention and stop giving air time and lip service to McCain, Rudy & Romney/
We really, really, really like Duncan Hunter. If he does not get the nomination and Fred does I hope Fred asks him to run as veep. What a combination. Fred for two terms then Hunter for two terms. That would straighten this country out especially if Congress is controlled by the Conservatives.
Bravo, Duncan Hunter. We’re with you!
This amnesty proposal is an outrage.
BUMP
Reasons for allowing illegal immigrants to have citizenship:
1) They put money into the Social Security system that the politicians know the immigrants can’t collect on (not yet), so it’s more money to play with.
2) The money that they’re putting in the SS system, would’ve been put in there by the over 45,000,000 people we’ve aborted since 1973, so it’s a nice gift and allows the dramatic loss of goods/services/investments/lives that the abortions have cost us.
3) [and this is the most important one to both parties] They’ll illegally vote (as they’ve already been doing in Texas), and guess which party they’ll illegally vote for? Right! (Well, the RINOs hope that they’ll get a few illegal votes because, after all, they’re kinda’ going along too)
So, the illegal voters are doing only the Washington 535 + Bush people’s a favor, but not a favor to us, the little people.
I’m surprised that the unions haven’t been squealing like stuck pigs on illegals 1) taking away work from potential members, and 2) from allowing the free market to raise the hourly rate for such work. Again, it’s the Washington mind versus the little people they represent.
Let us pray.
Why do Mexicans get blessed by virtue of their geography?
Outstanding post! BTTT!
You got that right, baby.
Bump!!!!
And yet “conservatives” refuse to get behind this guy.
>If we can secure the border in 18 months, why hasn’t it been done already?<
I have been writing the President about this for 6 1/2 years now, joylyn. It hasn’t been done because the President doesn’t WANT it done.
“..I would urge you to at least give some money to Hunter, just dont give any to the RNC.”
Good idea. My husband and I stopped contributing to the RNC long ago, and give to individual PRO-LIFE, CONSERVATIVE candidates, like Hunter.
How is it possible to be disappointed now when it has been known for months that this is what would come down to the country from the closed-door ‘bipartisan’ deals?
I just wonder where all the outraged border-bots were in November of 2006 when it was time to support the courageous Republicans in the House of Representatives who actually fought the good fight on immigration reform? I remember a number of Freepers in particular who were adamant about staying home to “send a message to the GOP”.
Now you fault the spinless moderates in the GOP for caving when you are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the fact that we have less GOP conservatives in the House and the Senate than we had before the election?
Pathetic.
At last, Hunter addresses the amnesty portion of the bill. His earlier TV/Radio appearances were directed towards the fence. Good comprehensive statement.
He’s been making good comperhensive anti-amnesty statements for 26 years. Just ain’t always on the evening news.
