Bush is always being surprised, I bet. I'm starting to think the moonbats were right about him. Not only is he a traitor to his constituency, he's a goddamned idiot - especially in regard to the things that matter to those of us who actually voted for him.

"a traitor to his constituency"
I don't recall Bush ever running as a Buchanan oncservative. He was a "compassionate conservative" from day one. About the only issue I can think of where he caved was McCain-Feingold. He went for tax cuts, the WOT, conservative USSC nominations, oppose stem-cell research, intervened for Schaivo, supported partial-birth abortion ban, etc. He's always been soft on immigration, so that's no surprise.

I just think he’s politically naive (still!), obsessed with being nice and civil — and was never, nor did he really claim to be, that conservative.

If and when GWB signs this bill bet his approval ratings go lower in the toilet.
