Folks I am getting more and more depressed about the 08 elections. I am not happy with any of the candidates. I have a sickening feeling that Hillary may get elected. I did not think this was possible a few months ago. But now I am not so sure. i realize the election is 18 months away but things are not going our way. Now the GOP has caved on the immigration issue and Bush is elated. God help us.

Uncle Hal - I promise you - the GOP ship will right itself and we will field a great candidate for POTUS.
Take faith - we will rise and meet the challenges ahead.
I have zero doubt about that.

We've got good candidates, they just won't win because they haven't been annointed by the party.

2008 is going to be a tough year unless something changes dramatically for the better in Iraq. And the numbers look bad for us in the Senate, with few vulnerable Dem seats.
That said, the best thing we may have going is the Dem candidates. Hillary is extremely polarizing and puts off big chunks of her own base. Edwards is feckless. Obama - well, can you imagine an Illinois state senator is really qualified to be President? Most all the Republicans will look solid and experienced by comparison. It'll be tough, but it just could happen.

Rush Limbaugh said there is an 80% probability that Hillary would be. That really depressed me. But I have not given up hoping for a better candidate to come forward.
