The constitution was not intended to be a suicide pact or an excuse to be the world’s patsies. Did their status as founders stop Jefferson, Adams, Madison, and Monroe from projecting US military power in our national interests?

As I wrote in a previous post:

What annoys me the most about Paul, his people, and people who think like them is that seem to subscribe to some mystical spirituality that protects the nation from its enemies just as long as the government doesn't engage in domestic espionage, "torture," or foreign intervention. [Also, i]t seems like they think that if waterboarding is the only way to save the United States from devastation, then it's not worth saving.

Seems to me the best way to find out a perp’s motive is to, um, ask the perp.

Uh, huh. You seem to have great faith in the honesty and truthfulness of humankind.

I was watching Cops last evening. A 'Perp' was arrested near a backpack he insisted wasn't his, which carried black clothing used in an armed robbery he insisted he wasn't at (oh, also the cash from that robbery), and his shoe print fit the shoe print found on the countertop of the store, left when he jumped the counter.

Well. Do you think if we asked this 'Perp' what his motive was for insisting he wasn't involved, he'd say it was because he wanted to fool the police? I rather doubt it. More likely, he'd continue the deception. After all it serves his best interest, not the truth.

In the same vein, why should we take at face value anything mentally unstable people like Osama bin Laden or the Unabomber say? Why? How do we know that what they're saying isn't inteneded for their own benefit and not the truth?

Oh, and I'm, not lumping Dr. Paul in with those who are mentally unstable, but I'm coming closer to it every day.

most of the hate from the middle east stems from their governments, governments much more oppressive than ours.

Wrong! ALL of the hate from the middle east stems from a religion that demands the World be subjugated to it. Those governments you refer to merely oppress their "subjects", just as we would be subjugated, based on the tenets of that religion.

Ron Paul is an isolationist, well so am I. Except for Liberals, most Americans are probably isolationists at heart. If the rest of the world would just leave us alone! We have no desire for empire, but unfortunately, isolationism is a pipe dream these days. The world’s too small, communication is instant, computers and every other electronic device under the sun available at the push of a button. You can fly anywhere, be anywhere in a day or two. Frankly, the rest of the world can’t wait to get here and bring their problems along for us to solve and pay for — meanwhile, they demand to vote in our Presidential elections, if you please. They swarm over the broken borders by the millions...and now Mexicans in LA and environs are demonstrating for their own ‘Mexican congress’ to ‘take care of their concerns’. (If this isn’t Step 2 of ‘Reconquista’, I’ll eat my hat.)

Nukes in the hands of enemies, lunatics busy building rockets with the capability of hitting NY or LA. What to do? Paul thinks we can pull up the drawbridge and be safe. That day is long gone. He’s a fanatic, following his lodestar no matter what. In less polite circles he’d be called delusional.

Oh, one further observation: Since when does being against the involvement of a country in one’s own ‘area of influence’ justify the flying of aircraft into buildings within that country, and killing innocent civilians? Is that a legitimate response?

If not, how can one then suggest that those attacked should accept their culpability for its act?

I frankly don’t care what the purposes of radical Islam are. They attacked us on our soil in an act of war (even Dr. Paul has named it such), murdered innocent civilians, as part of an ongoing Jihad against the West. We are in our rights, both Constitutionally and morally, to seek them out wherever they exist and destroy them.

I care about the Constitution but I certainly don’t care about that POS Ron Paul or his beliefs. Your generalizations are extremely extreme.

LOL. You didn't get a response from me in May, what makes you think you're going to get one now? You stalking me or what?

Isolationist, mind your own business approach increasingly seems like a good idea.

There was a substantial movement in that direction here in the 1930s. It enabled Hitler's fascist Germany to advance further than it should have before Europe had no choice but to fight it.

Yah, really good idea. geez

“In my opinion Ron Paul cares more about the U.S. Constitution than anybody here.”

In my opinion, your opinion is stupid.

I disagree. I think any religion becomes corrupted and hate filled when it is placed under political control. Islam was from the beginning, Mohammad was a conquerer and was both the head of state and the head of his religion - a rather horrible mix. Perhaps we are saying the same thing, but I think state sponsored religion, Madrases etc.. stems from the state, from the corrupt governments of those countries, countries we continue to give billions upon billions of dollars to.

FReepers don't care about the Constitution anymore

That's nonsense. It is Ron Paul who shows very little concern for the defense of America. And that is why he is the Ross Perot of 08.

It is Ron Paul who shows very little concern for the defense of America.

He still supports border security and a strong national defense. How can you fight a war against terrorism when the borders are wide open.

And that is why he is the Ross Perot of 08.

He is not running as a 3rd party or independent candidate. I don't know how many times I have to point this out to you FReepers.
