House Republicans Wednesday threatened to shut down House business by calling a series of procedural votes until the Democratic leadership assured them that rules governing key parliamentary procedures would go unchanged.
Republicans began their assault in the mid-afternoon after hearing that the Democratic leadership allegedly planned to change the germaneness rule......

This is an astonishing attempt by the majority leadership to duck accountability for tax-and-spend policies the American people do not want, said House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio). The majority leadership is gutting House rules that have been in place for 185 years so they can raise taxes and increase government spending without a vote. House Republicans will use every tool available to fight this abuse of power.
A GOP leadership aide said, We will bring down the House, .... if the rule are changed, Republicans would continue to call the procedural votes and begin to thwart progress on the committee level as well.

A Boehner?
So, how’s that “new tone” with the ‘Rats working out?
Doubtful, highly doubtful.
Just maybe, just maybe our side will learn how to play the game now . From the White House, to the Congress, to the RNC, the PR machine and lack of testicular fortitude has been absent for waaaaayyyyy too long if it was ever there. You cant play todays game with the old rules.
I am not holding my breath. Everytime it looked like someone on our side was finally getting it, they usually got the rug pulled out from under them, often by our own team.
Sort of. They're in the minority now, and (IMO) that's where they're most comfortable. They found and dusted off their "How to Fight wile in the Minority" booklet.
gonad. I doubt it.
The Germaneness Rule: The rules of the House prohibit a bill from being amended with a
subject matter different from the primary text under consideration. This rule, commonly
known as the germaneness rule, is considered the single most important rule of the House of
Representatives because of the need to restrict the focus of such a large legislative body. The
germaneness rule applies to the proceedings in the House, the Committee of the Whole, and
the standing committees.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolute power Nancy corrupts absolutely.
That happened a couple of times with my wife when the boys were growing up.
LOL. ‘Repubs resort to using feminine wiles against Pelosi’
It’s a va_ina.
funny that buldge seems to only drop into view when they are OUT of power. Their identity is not one of leadership or rulers they are responders that have been trained to only respond to what is presented rather than have the vision to lead and guide that leadership.
“one”
Even that is probably too much to hope for. These guys are like a bunch of Castratti
Once again it takes having the Comocrats in power before the Donothingpubs start to grow a pair.
Wake me when they start telling the Americian people that it is “US” who needs to wake up to the Libocratic threat.
ED
It’s a little late to find their spines, but I’m glad...it’s progress.
Nope, it’s just a Boehner!
That is an excellent explanation, thank you. Suppose a bill were to be introduced to authorize some repairs to a federal facility. Someone then inserts an amendment to raise taxes. Because the amendment would not be germain to the bill, it could be debated. Pelosi wants to let her goons amend bills and pass any number of laws without debate. Disgusting!
The rules of the House prohibit amendments of a subject matter different from the text under consideration.
This rule, commonly known as the germaneness rule, is considered the single most important rule of the House of Representatives because of the obvious need to keep the focus of a body the size of the House on a predictable subject matter.
The germaneness rule applies to the proceedings in the House, the Committee of the Whole, and the standing committees. There are hundreds of prior rulings or "precedents" on issues of germaneness available to guide the Chair.
Basically that the motion to amend amendment must be relevant to the main motion. A problem is that the chair gets to decide relevance. Pelosi actually thinks she is henry Clay!
We get him on time delay, but at least Hannity has mentioned this. Our local talk radio had Radanovich on and blew the opportunity to ask him what was happening.
