Fred doesn’t look well or energetic to me.

I’m not sure he’s up to a run.

That's one of my big concerns about Fred Thompson--whether it's health or simply lack of desire to run. I understand the people who say they don't trust someone who wants passionately to be President, but at the same time, it's going to be a long hard fight against a vicious opponent, and someone who doesn't have the will or energy to fight, simply isn't going to win.

Looking back, someone earlier in this thread mentioned the first President Bush. I've always thought that part of the reason that he lost that second term was that he was running more out of duty than out of a strong desire to win.

Having the mainstream media quickly cut to George H. W. Bush looking at his watch over and over again during the Presidential debates didn’t help with President Bush’s re-election chances either.

These are my concerns as well. I like Fred Thompson a lot and would jump behind him in a heartbeat if he is the nominee, but we need a candidate who will inspire the country like Reagan did. Sure Fred’s conservative, but his laid-back, indifferent demeanor may not play well with the “mushy middle” voters. That’s what I’m most concerned about.

I also hate to say this of my fellow female voters, but I think a lot of independent women will vote for Hillary because she’s a woman. We need a candidate who will give them a reason to think otherwise. There are very few in this pool of candidates who I think can do that. Of the top tier candidates that is likely either Giuliani or Romney, IMO, even though they may not be the most conservative.
