Traffic has become increasingly congested and tempers flare as slower drivers occupy what has been historically referred to as the “fast lane”. It’s time to get that Left Lane back! It is our considered opinion that not only will traffic move more smoothly and more quickly once the Left Lane is used in the way it has been designed but also headaches, frustration, bad tempers and road rage will all be greatly reduced when this pressure valve is released. I understand what your saying on drunk drivers and illegals. I’ve enjoyed posting to you. Thanks for keeping things light regarding my comments on this thread. I know how easy it is sometimes for people to take things way too seriously. I’ve needed this diversion today considering where my son is and what has been happening within his brigade since the events of this past weekend. If I’m ever in Texas to visit my relatives maybe we can get together.
You're like me. Doesn't matter to me which lane I pass somebody in. If they're driving slower then I want to go, I'm going to pass them. :o)

Beat me to it. Equating arbitrary speed limits to illegal immigration just leaves me speechless.
So is obeying the rules of the road.
I think there's a reasonable limit to what you can expect in the fast lane. People who are going 100 mph and expect everyone to get out of the way need to learn that they alone don't own the road.
That explains it and I fully agree. I drive a Camaro with a 6 speed. At 55 I am in 5th turning high rpms (around 3000), but at 75 I am in 6th turning around 1800 in a ratio IIRC of .75:1. Much more efficient and the only time I approach over 20 MPG.
We call people who drive slow in the left lane, “The Keeper of the Speed”.
They are there to make sure everyone obeys the speed limit. Kind of like self-ordained deputies.

This is my idea of a good time ;-).
I always drive in the Hammer Lane, but I am confused as to how darn fast I should go. The State troopers tell me they stune their beebers to go off at about 7-10 above the posted limit.
So I am cruising at 72-74 in the 65 zones, just under 80 in the 70' MPH Zones. But, I seem to be holding people up! I always give way when flashed, (or rammed) but what's a boy to do?!
I used to use a detector to drive MUCH faster than that, but they seem to be nigh on useless nowadays. I have NEVER had a speeding ticket ... been stopped plenty ... and dinged for other stuff after roadside plea-bargaining. I sure don't want to start my criminal career now.
So, old scout, instead of bitching about the Magoos in the fast lane, lay out the protocols. Also, my NAZI road locomotive gives really crappy mpg at anything over 65. But, I'll go as fast as I need to go to keep you happy.

I'm like you ... it is my gas, I'll burn it any way I please. Hood mounted Gatling guns would be a terrific option.
I'm one of those that takes speed limits as the slowest anyone should be allowed to drive. I'm of German decent. I MUST argue to be happy.
Excuse me, but would you tell me where in the Great State of Texas you have EVER seen that happen?
I live in the Houston area, and have never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for driving in the left lane.

Jawohl, designed for 1935! On the older autobahnen they have very tightly radiused curves. Also, you have never lived or might die until you have been in a 100 car fog pile up on the Autobahn.
BTW, German drivers are meticulous in obeying in-town rules. A good lesson here for us untermenschen in Amerika.
You already made the connection: revenue enhancement. The drastic speed limit change is your classic speedtrap. Look for the town to have a 24h/7d magistrate to collect the cash from travelers.
Yep. I drive a bit more than 10 over if conditions warrant and will take point in my turn on long drives. My only disadvantage is I stick out like a sore thumb.

That said, I’ve done enough highway travelling lately, to have had it up to here with Left Lane Bandits. We’re talking the kind of people who speed up, to try to keep you from passing on the right, after they’ve passed up opportunities to move over. There is far too much passive-agressive behavior in this, along with a lot of general cluelessness.
